Birthday emoji

My grandson, Anthony, has a birthday
coming up in a few days and I wanted
to make something different. I was
looking on my pinterest board of
kid's cards and saw the emoji ones.
I love this face! In fact, I love this card!
I think it's great for a kid-or a kid at heart.

Isn't that neat? His sister, Samantha,

has a birthday two days after his. I'm
waiting for my new “lovely girls” dies
to come in to make hers. They should
be here any day now.

I woke up at 530 this morning and couldn't
go back to sleep. I have to be up at 545
tomorrow morning and I'll be so sleepy
I can't see straight with my luck. Well,
maybe not, as I will be wound up, I'm sure.
I've gone over my assignments, glossed
everything to MY satisfaction. I don't know
if it will be to THEIR satisfaction. They
won't see the gloss, just me signing it.
I'm really nervous!

  Psalm 138:3
In the day when I cried out,
You answered me, and made me bold
with strength in my soul.”

Happy Wednesday!

Silly mice

At least I think these are mice.
I thought at first they were chipmunks,
so maybe that's what they are. At any
rate, they are cute. This is the same
design I showed about a week ago, just
in a different colour. I haven't been
making too many cards of late.

This is the last post until after CITI is over.
I've already been working on the assignments
they've given us ahead of time and it's
getting more real and more scary. The one
I'm most worried about is the passage I'll
have to interpret during chapel. I don't
know if they are using a King James Bible
or what. I suspect they might. I don't even
own a KJV! I looked up the passage online
and printed it out, but I don't know how
this is all going to work out. I have to
keep remembering-God's got this!
So please say a prayer for my friends
and me. We are going to need it!

Isaiah 41:10

Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed,
for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you,
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

  Good verse for today!

Happy Tuesday!

Little girl blue

I saw a card similar to this on pinterest
(hers was much nicer) so I decided to
see what I could do with the concept. I'm
not thrilled with it, but it's an OK card.

Yesterday was an awesome day. We had
a deaf man join us. Saturday evening at
practice Pam told me I needed to sign
bigger: “This is your signing space- use it.”
Because Mickey was there I was really into
signing the songs. It made a difference!
 There's someone there who NEEDS
to see the signing. And he was copying me,
so that was really cool, too. Later on I asked
Pam if I did better and she gets this big grin
and said, “Yes! You seemed to change when
you had someone to minister to.” That's why
we're doing this. I hope he comes back and
brings his friends, too! It was really exciting.

And, yes, I got the lawn mowed
when I got home from church
(at 4:30 pm...)!

I've been working on glossing my scripture
passage for CITI on Friday. Paul uses
too many words...my friend, Sam, finally
sent me pictures of a children's Bible for
that passage and although I haven't
completely gotten the gloss, it's really
 going to help! Thanks, Sam!

Galatians 4:6

Because you are his sons, God sent the Spirit
of his Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls
out, “Abba, Father.”

Do butterflies dream?

Another butterfly card. I just can't
seem to get away from them. It's not
that I particularly like butterflies,
although I don't dislike them, it's just
that they seem to crop up in a lot of my
cards. They lend themselves nicely to
the front of cards, I think. The panel was
originally a bookmark but I thought there
was no reason why it had to stay that way!
I added another one of my words because
I love putting words on cards. I almost
used the “memories” words, but thought
dream” looked and fit better.

I am hoping that it will be nice later on
today and maybe I can get the lawn
mowed. I'm not going to have a lot of
time this week before CITI gets started
and I need to get to the assignments
she sent us. But first I need to work on
Hosanna” for service this morning. I
know HOW to sign it, I just get tripped
up for some reason. It's driving me
crazy! John would have said “short trip”.

  Psalm 17:6
 I call on you, my God, for you will answer me;
turn your ear to me and hear my prayer.

Happy Sunday!

Pop up card envelope

I think the envelope turned out better
than the card! The only thing is that
I used a different card stock in the
middle of the envelope because I thought
I didn't have any more of the card stock I
used for the squares on the card. When
I had it all finished I saw the piece that I
had set aside. Oh well.

We've received our church assignments
for Thursday and Friday. Mine is on
Friday. No glosses yet, but we can
study the verses. It's becoming real
-and real scary! Each day there is
chapel and we have different parts of
the service to participate in. The three of
us will pray each other through it all and
support each other and that is so
much more than I expected when I
first decided to go on this journey.
I thought I'd be alone. God worked
things out for me and for them. What
a good God we have!

Psalm 46:10A

 He says, “Be still, and know that I am God;

Happy Saturday!

pop up card

This has got a lot of little parts and
is a little fiddly at the end, but I'm
pretty pleased with how it turned
out. I had to hang it from the cupboard
to get a picture of it opened.

Isn't it cool? It pops up and down. I
had to make a special envelope for it
since it's a bit bigger than the usual
square cards, but this one is going to
be delivered anyway. I think I'm even
going to decorate the envelope, so I'll
take a picture of that for tomorrow.

I was going to mow the lawn today but
it's been raining all day. Yesterday
would have been the perfect day, alas
I was unable to.

A couple of days ago I got my hair
coloured. It's the first time I've ever
had it done professionally. It looks so
great. It's red with dark brown. Those
of you who knew me way back in the
day will remember that my hair had
a lot of red in it. I am really happy with
how it came out!

  Psalm 17:6
 I call on you, my God, for you will answer me;
turn your ear to me and hear my prayer.

This was one of the verses in my

Bible study this morning. I think
it's an awesome verse.

Happy Friday!

Summer sun

The temperature has dropped dramatically
in the last two days, especially today.
If it stays this way I'm going to go out
and mow the lawn. Here's a little girl
just sitting on a fence in the summer sun

We used to sit on the fence when I was

a kid, with a salt shaker, eating tomatoes
that were growing in my dad's garden.
I wish life were that easy now. But I didn't
have such a wonderful childhood, so
I wouldn't want to travel back.

I found this on facebook yesterday and
thought it was too great not to share.

Here's another one I like:
To the world you may be one person
but to one person you may be the world”

Psalm 9:10

Those who know your name trust in you,
for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you.

Happy Wednesday!

Happy mistake

Guess where I saw this card? No, not
pinterest! I'm a member of a card
making group on facebook and someone
posted a card like this. They were going
for something else, apparently, and
ended up with a happy mistake! I liked it.

I've got to start  getting  some swaps
finished today. The rest of the week
is going to be busy.

Speaking of a happy surprise, yesterday I got
a facebook message from my grandson!
He said we haven't talked in a while
so he decided to get in touch. After I
verified with his mother that it was really
him-I've been hacked twice through FB
messages-we had a wonderful chat and
he even sent me a cute picture of himself
and his girlfriend. That was a real treat!
One of God's blessings!

Second Corinthians 9:8-9

And God is able to bless you abundantly,

so that in all things at all times, having

all that you need, you will abound in

every good work. As it is written:

They have freely scattered their gifts

to the poor; their righteousness endures forever.”

Happy Monday!

All creatures great and small

I liked all the images on the sheet that
came with this pattern so I decided
to make three of the same thing,
each with a different image. I have
two made so far:

Aren't they cute?!

We received some assignments to
work on before classes start at CITI
on June 28. There are four groups and
Coleen, Sam and I are all separated.
Probably because they see that Coleen
and I come from the same church and
Sam is from the same area. I was bummed
about that. I'm pretty shy around people
I don't know. That could be a problem.
Anyway, our group has to interpret Revelation
7:9-17 and everyone the first 55 seconds (nope, not
60 seconds) of “The little engine that could”.
She said there's a lot in that little bit....
Sounds pretty scary. I think we separate
the verses and story between those in the
group, but I'm not sure. I printed the
story and verses out and will gloss them
to make it easier to study. I don't know
if that will help or not, but it can't hurt,
I guess. I'm getting nervous now that it's closer.

Isaiah 41:10
So do not fear, for I am with you;
do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you;
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

A full deck

I saw this card on pinterest and I
blatantly copied it. I thought it
was such a great card! This is
the outside:

And the inside:

Isn't that hilarious? I don't know
who I'll give it to. My brother in
law has a birthday in November.
Maybe I'll save it until then.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

 Rejoice always, pray continually,
 give thanks in all circumstances;
for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

Happy Saturday!

Thankful

Here's another little butterfly girl
combined with a corner die that
I love but hardly ever use. I have
quite a few of those, actually. If
John could see all the dies and
patterns I have he would be so mad.
Now I see on Facebook that my favourite
place in to order patterns in Switzerland
has posted more patterns. I haven't
even finished the ones I have and I'm
thinking about ordering more. In my
defence it takes about two weeks for
them to get here. Not much of a
defence, huh?!

I haven't done anything yet, I'm
still thinking about it, but that
in and of itself is dangerous for
me. No wonder I've had a headache
since last night. Too much thinking!

I'm looking forward to coffee with
Coleen tonight. Just because. It
will be fun.

Ephesians 2:8-10

8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and
this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—
9 not by works, so that no one can boast. 10 For we are
God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works,
which God prepared in advance for us to do.

These are some of my favourite verses.

Happy Thursday!

D-A-D

I really like how this card turned out.
But when I put the pretty peel off line
sticker along the edge I didn't realize
that the circles would cover it up. You
can see tiny little bits of it but that's
all. I was bummed about that. You'd
think I'd have laid it all out...and I did,
but I failed to realize that if I used the
smaller circles the letters wouldn't fit inside.

I got my lawn mowed yesterday and
about an hour later the rain started
pouring! I'd say that was really good
timing. The weather was great for it, too.

I found this on facebook today and
it really struck me, so I had to share.

Matthew 11:28

“Come to me, all you who are weary
and burdened, and I will give you rest.

Who can guess the flower?

For all my friends out there who know
flowers, what is this? I am terrible
growing, identifying and even liking
flowers. I know. It's criminal.
What can I say?

I was looking at the picture I posted
yesterday of my friends and I at the
ball game and I realized that our server
was grinning in the background! She
was so nice. I'm glad she photo bombed
our picture!

I have copied three books in the Bible now,

1 Samuel, John and Matthew. I'm starting
in Psalms this morning. I have read these
books before. Yet, writing them has slowed
me down enough that I have read things I
don't remember even seeing before! I have
finally found the best way for me to
study my Bible.

John 15:5

“I am the vine; you are the branches.
If you remain in me and I in you, you will
bear much fruit; apart from me
you can do nothing.

New girlies

I got some new dies last week.
These are called “lovely girls” and
come from China. Much, much cheaper
than the Gorjuss girls.

I'm not all that enamoured of the
girl sitting on the books. When I finally
had it together it still didn't look like the
picture. The arms are supposed to be
farther apart on the book. Oh, well.
I think maybe the knees are supposed
to be higher.

Here is a card using one of them:

I like this one very much.

Judy's brother in law takes the
game very seriously and has no
time for pictures, LOL

We had a great time at the Tin Caps
game last night. They were playing
the Lansing Lugnuts. When we left
they were winning 10-0 (the Lugnuts
aren't very good in my opinion). It
started raining pretty good so we decided
we'd probably better hit the road. By
the time we got to Auburn it was raining
hard. No lawn mowing for me today
as it was raining early this morning.
That's a real problem. My garage floor
is kind of slick. So I took the dog out, hit
the floor with wet shoes, slid (but didn't fall)
and tore my toenail half off somehow.
I'm keeping a bandaid on it until it grows
out a little more.

John 14:27

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you.
I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let
your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

Happy Monday!

great design, not so great colour!

This card didn't come out like I hoped. I don't like the colour of the card stock. But it's still a great design. ...
