Post surgery update

One week out and I'm doing pretty well.
I didn't expect the muscle pain which doesn't
make sense because my arm is always where
it hurt, not my shoulder. Anyway, I have my
follow up appointment next week and they
will probably give me more at home exercises
and maybe even when to start PT. I'll be in
a sling for another three weeks, so I don't know
if they will start it before I'm out of it or not.

Here is a card I did a while ago and just now
getting to post it:

Yesterday was 5 years since John died.
I still miss him every day!

 Isaiah 41:10

Fear not, for I am with you;
Be not dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you,
Yes, I will help you,
I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’

Cute little puppy

This little puppy is a card I made for
my grandson, Ethan, for his birthday
this month. He's 18! I can't believe how
fast these kids grow.

I've been getting daily emails from the doctor's office
for this, that and the other....initially they said scrub
with an antibacterial soap the night before.  Today
they mention two by name.  I'm sure they are expensive.
I've got antibacterial soap.  It will do.  Then yesterday I
get a call from orthopedics wanting me to come in
tomorrow for a fitting for my sling (?).  I said that
would be kind of hard because I'd be in surgery.
Obviously she wasn't kept in the loop.  She said, well,
They'll probably put one on you there.  I should hope so!
Maybe they'll even teach me how to adjust it, etc.
This is a lot of effort all of a sudden.  But the pain I
was in last  night convinced me that I am making
the right decision.  I must have had my arm in a weird
position because it hurt like crazy!

Isaiah 55:11

So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth;
It shall not return to Me void,
But it shall accomplish what I please,
And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.

Black flourish

I found this flourish and thought it would
look really beautiful in black. Actually,
I think everything looks beautiful in
black but that's beside the point!

Yesterday started out great.  The doctor's office
called and said there's a cancellation on Thursday
would I like to change my surgery.  YES!  My
brother in law has an appointment at that same
place just a little later than I have to be there
so he kindly agreed to take me.  Then.....I
started smelling gas in the bathroom.  This is
where the day went steadily down hill.  The hot
water heater was toast.  I called the plumber.
They gave me a quote and said they'd send
someone out.  I thought the person who was
coming out was just going to look at it, but NO!
They put it right in!  Thank you, Lord.  THEN...
my smoke detector started chirping.  Time to
replace it.  The day was so busy and yet I didn't
get one single thing done.  Except get myself so
wound up that I was up past one AM trying to sleep.
Hopefully today will be much better!

1 John 4:15-16

Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God,
God abides in him, and he in God.
And we have known and believed the love that God has for us.
God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him.

Next rolodex cards

I've got quite a few of the rolodex cards done
but I've been jumping around the alphabet
so I don't have pictures of them yet. Here's
the next two, though. All the rest are in sets
of three but the alphabet isn't set up for
sets of three so one had to be a set of two
and this is it.

Harry the cat is safely back with his daddy.
I felt so sad driving away from Pam's because
even though she only had him a week (it sure
seemed longer!)  I know she fell in love with
him.  he's such a great cat.  She can babysit if
the occasion comes up!  :)

I'm getting more and more information from my
doctor via email.  Look out for this, prepare
for that...such as easy meals, etc.  Remember the
days when they scheduled you for surgery and
you just showed up.  Not so in the information age!
It's a week from today and I just want to get it
over with!!

Hebrews 11:16

But now they desire a better, that is, a heavenly country.
Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God,
for He has prepared a city for them.

Easter flowers

This is, again, the same design, just
with flowers. These flowers were horrible
to cut out! But I like the finished project.

I saw this on facebook and thought it was
so cool.  I snapped a photo of it from my
tablet because I was too lazy to fool around
with blue toothing it to my phone, so it's
not as good, but you get the idea.

Revelation 3:20

Here I am! I stand at the door and knock.
If anyone hears my voice and opens the door,
I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.

Honestly! This was the next verse on my list.
I didn't even look for it. How cool is that?!

Happy Sunday!

Getting ready for Easter

These three cards are the same, just different
images, but they are all so cute I wanted to
show them. I have more of the same to
come, except they will have flowers instead
of little critters.

One more Saturday class after today
and one more Monday class and then
I will be  stuck at home for at least a couple
of weeks.  He said about two and when I
felt like I could handle the car one handed.
I drive left handed anyway, but there's always
the gear shift to begin and end and backing
up.  Those two things will be challenging,
but I'm not going to let it stop me.  I'm
most worried about the physical therapy.  I've
been through PT before and it hurts.  But I
have a feeling this is going to hurt a lot worse.
The doctor said it was up to me as to how well
I recover.  I'm going to work hard, but that
doesn't mean I'm looking forward to it, LOL!

Psalm 121

I lift up my eyes to the mountains—
where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth.
He will not let your foot slip—
he who watches over you will not slumber

Happy Saturday!

Alphabet rolodex cards

Since I've already committed myself to a swap
of the alphabet rolodex cards, I'm trying to
get them (and some other projects) done
before I have the surgery. I started late in
the swap, so I'm having to catch up with the
first five letters. Here is A, B, C.

The inside of the card says "You rock" which is
a favourite saying of my friend, Coleen.  She's
such an encouraging person.

My dad is doing well.  We got some banking
done yesterday and he was a little winded here
and there, but other than that, enjoyed being
outside and just feeling the warmth.  It
was kind of windy and a lot rainy, but that
didn't seem to dampen his spirits!

were written for our learning, that we through the patience
and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope.

Blue butterfly birthday

Try saying the title 5 times fast! This is a
card I made for “my” Pam (as opposed to
Cody's Pam-there has to be a way to
differentiate, LOL) for her birthday on the 12th.
I was super happy with how it came out and
apparently others liked it as well. The first
time I posted a card on a group I belonged to
it ended up getting more than a hundred likes.
This pic only shows 94, but I was so excited I had
to take a screenshot!

Isn't that cool?

I got my dad home safe and sound yesterday.
I'm having lunch with Dianne today  then
going to his house to get him to run a few
errands.    Hopefully soon he will feel strong
enough to bring home his kitty but for now
he is ruling the roost at Pam's house.  She's
going to have a hard time giving him up because
she loves him already.  Harry's not really a cat-
he's a dog in cat attire.  Seriously, he acts more
like a dog than my dog does!

It's a rough life being a cat.

2 Thessalonians 3:16

Now may the Lord of peace Himself give you peace
always in every way. The Lord be with you all.

Happy Thursday!

file folder card

Nancy, here is the file folder card. It
looks kind of like the rolodex cards so I
can see why you thought that's what they were.
I took pictures of both the inside and outside.

This is for my brother in law's birthday, which
is the 15th, so obviously it will be late...

I'm bringing my dad home from the hospital
today.  He's feeling much better and looking
forward to getting back to  his hobbies and
daily living.

My surgery is NOT the 28th, but the 25th.  I
think I had the 28th stuck in my head because
that  is the 5th anniversary of John's death.

2 Corinthians 1:4

who comforts us in all our tribulation,
that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble,
with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.

I really like this verse!

Another cute little guy

At least I think this is a little guy.
Maybe a girl? But aren't all leprechauns
boys? I have no clue, LOL.

My surgery has been scheduled for 28
March, 2019.  That is the 5th anniversary
of  John's death.   Not exactly the way I
want to spend the day remembering him, but
it does need to be done.  They call me and give
me all these instructions, one of which is:
shower the night before with antibacterial
soap, cleansing the shoulder area for two full
minutes.  Yep.  Then you put on clothes, lay
in a bed all night, maybe sweat, who knows?
What good does it do to scrub for two full minutes?
These are questions which probably don't have answers!  🤣

Blessed are those whose lawless deeds are forgiven,
And whose sins are covered;

Birthday RAK'S

This month there are two birthdays in the group
I recently joined. Since it is March, I decided
to make St. Pat's cards for their birthdays.
This is the first one.

Isn't he a cute little guy?

John 14:1

“Do not let your hearts be troubled.
You believe in God; believe also in me.

St. Patrick's 2

As yesterday, this is a card with a matching ATC.
The ATC's are for a RAK attack with a different card.

I think I like this one a little better than the
one I showed yesterday.

My dad is still in the hospital but I'm hopeful
it won't be much longer.  I, on the other hand,
may be down a couple of months....my rotator
cuff is not tendinitis, but torn.  So that means
surgery.  They are supposed to call me next week
to set things up.  For the first month I'll be in a
sling and he said it will take up to four  months
to get full range of motion.  Hopefully I get it all
back.  He said he never promises that I'll not have
any more pain and that I will have complete motion
back.  The latter is a little scary.  So after I have the
surgery I may not feel like updating my blog, but
I'll do my best.  I do have a few cards made up right now.

It has been so windy the last two days! I don't
know what the gusts are but I would guess up to
40-50 mph.  It is supposed
to settle down this morning, but the last time they
said that it lasted through that entire day.

Psalm 31:24

 Be of good courage,
And He shall strengthen your heart,
All you who hope in the Lord.

Happy Sunday!

Saint Patrick's day

I've made a bunch of St Patrick day cards,
two of them with matching ATC's, this is
the first one.

I'm not sure which I like better, the darker
background or lighter.  They both have their
charms, I guess.

Today I will find out the results of the MRI.
He's probably going to say I've been a big
baby and nothing is wrong.  That's my fear
anyway.  Since I decided the pain was more
than I was willing to deal with it has stopped
hurting almost completely.  Kind of like your
toothache goes away as soon as you call the dentist.

Psalm 27:14

Wait on the Lord;
Be of good courage,
And He shall strengthen your heart;
Wait, I say, on the Lord!

Happy Friday!

Cutest kitten award

I love this pattern and the colours with
the kitten work perfectly.

My dad told me yesterday that they think
he will be in the hospital at least another
ten days.  I think they are making him worse,
not better.

 Colossians 3:15

And let the peace of God rule in your hearts,
to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful.

Rolodex cards

I joined a rolodex card swap recently. I
joined the group after this swap started,
so I missed the first five. When I'm assigned
a partner (I understand she has joined recently
as well) I'll ask her if she wants to catch up with
the first five cards. But here are F,G,H:

I was pretty happy with how they came out.

I'll be going to take care of my dad's cat today
and then visiting him after lunch with Dianne.
He told my sister that they are going to keep him
there until at least Saturday now.  I do not know
what the diagnosis is, but I don't intend to leave
today without knowing that and the treatment
plan they have decided on.  Dad doesn't ask
questions and I'm not getting any information
relying on him.  It's becoming stressful.

Luke 6:27-28

“But I say to you who hear: Love your enemies,
do good to those who hate you,  bless those who curse you,
and pray for those who spitefully use you.

Trying a new thing

I saw something similar to this on pinterest
and decided to try it. BUT, while I like it,
I think I should have inked the mat behind it.
That would have made it really stand out. If
I do something like this again, I will do that.
It was difficult to pierce the holes through
two pieces of card stock, but I like the result.

I'm using this as the March RAK attack card,
then I'll add two ATC's.

The doctors are going to evaluate my dad today
and decided what treatment will need to be done.
His heart has been racing and they've needed to
use medication to slow it down.  That also isn't
helping with his breathing.

As for me, I have the MRI on Wednesday (I may have
mentioned that) and the followup with the Dr. on
Friday.  I was surprised they got me in that quickly,
but I'm not complaining.  I hope the whole thing
is over with quickly.  Pam told me she made the
executive decision to take me off the signing schedule.
I know it's the right thing to do but it's not what I wanted.

I slid in the garage this morning and cracked my shin
on the step, also skinned it.  It really smarts.  I hit
my head on the car tire, too, but very gently.
Thank you, Lord, for keeping me safe.  I'll live with
a painful shin rather than a cracked open skull.

Psalm 91:1

He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High
Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

Not another faerie!

This is a much prettier faerie than the others
I've shown. Probably because I didn't do it, LOL.
I fell in love with the image as soon as I saw it.

I can't believe it's March and I can't believe it's
still so cold-with a chance of snow!    I am so done
with it all!  Yesterday I didn't think I was
ever going to be warm again.

My dad is hanging in there.  They are going to
make a decision tomorrow on what further
treatment he will need.  He's pretty depressed
and I don't blame him there.

I was supposed to sign today but Pam took over
my songs because I never know what movement
might bring me to my knees.  I'll sign from my
seat but I can quit whenever I want that way.  I
will be happy when I get this all taken care of.
I couldn't believe it when the doctor said it had
been 4 years.  I didn't think it had been that long!

Proverbs 3:5-6

Trust in the Lord with all your heart
    and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways submit to him,
and he will make your paths straight.

Simply Heavenly

I was looking for something else when I
came upon the last two angel images
I had on a sheet that I'd forgotten. Here is
one of them. I haven't made a card with the
other yet.  Isn't she pretty?!

Larry and I went to the home and garden
show yesterday in Fort Wayne. When you first
walk in there is a sand sculptor. He was only
beginning when we got there, but here is
the beginning of it. It was cool to watch
but of course, they take hours and hours
so we didn't get to see the final project.

I have an MRI scheduled for Wednesday.  I'm
not thrilled about it as I've only had one before
and I don't like being in that little tube, but
they need to know for sure that my rotator
cuff isn't torn.  We are all sure it's not, but
it's a vastly different surgery and recovery
time if it is.

Galatians 6:9

And let us not grow weary while doing good,
for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.

Happy Saturday!

great design, not so great colour!

This card didn't come out like I hoped. I don't like the colour of the card stock. But it's still a great design. ...
