Lazy gnome

Yesterday's gnome was the only one who
even worked of the three. I guess you could
loosely call fishing “work” but this guy is
flat out sleeping. I guess there's always
got to be that one guy!





This is my favourite of the three. 

My dad thinks he's going to go home today
but I don't think he's seen the doctor yet.
Apparently he was coughing so hard that
he developed a hernia but that will have
to be repaired at a later date.

Busy bee gnome

This gnome is apparently the only worker bee
as you will see when I show the last one
tomorrow. I guess someone has to do the work.





My dad is still in the hospital.  I haven't
talked to him this morning so I don't know
if they have mentioned when he will get
out but I don't think it's today.  I'm going
to run over in a few minutes and take care
of his cat, Harry.  It's going to be a busy
day today.

Here come the gnomes!

The gnomes are the second part of the
faeries set. They are a little cuter than
the faeries. A little. You can be the judge.





I used pencil for the eyes so it didn't 
stand out as much.   

Here's something really exciting to me because
it has never happened before.  A group I'm
in chose my artwork for the cover page.  I think
they change it once a week.  It's not a very good
picture, since I photographed it from my tablet
but you get the idea.




Pretty cool, eh?!

My dad is in hospital.  I guess he called
the ambulance at 2 am because he couldn't
breathe.  They are going to keep him  until
 tomorrow and give him breathing treatments,
fluids, etc.  He's been sick ever since my mom 
died and has COPD so that doesn't help.  It 
makes grieving that  much harder.  Hopefully
they can get him back on his feet.

The last, finally

This is the last of the goofy looking faeries.
She isn't quite as obnoxious looking as
the others, but I regret buying the patterns
because the gnomes which make up the
other three of the set aren't much better.
Luckily they don't cost much at all.





I got about three hours sleep, woke up and
that was the end of that, so I finally got up.
I think it was the wind keeping me awake.  It
sounds like it's finally died down some, but
yesterday coming home from church, I got blown
over to the shoulder.  That was a little scary.  It
was hard holding the car straight.

Faerie land faerie 2

This one doesn't look nearly as weird as
the first, but the head shape is still strange.
I think my friend, Karen, is right, though.
If I make them again I will just leave the
eyes off. They make it look even more strange.



I think I like red roses better, too.  The pattern
called for pink roses, but it doesn't seem to
show up as well.  Besides, who pays attention
to patterns?!


I finished another diamond painting.
Isn't she beautiful?! I was showing my
dad the other day and remarked how
it is hard to find a square frame. He
said as soon as he had the energy and
desire to get back in the woodshop he'd
make some frames for me. I think he needs
to just take care of himself right now. They
aren't going anywhere. I did order a bunch
more for Christmas presents, but they are
a more normal, frame-able size. Is that
a word? Frame-able? It is now!

Here come the faeries

I've been looking at this set of patterns for
forever, but somehow I never seemed to
decide to get them. Now I have. It's
three faeries and 3 gnomes. I haven't
really started on the gnomes yet, but the
faeries are cute except for one thing-the
faces. They look ridiculous. So all I can
do is apologise. I didn't design the patterns!



 If I had noticed their faces looked so

weird I may have not gotten them. For
some reason my pinterest page has been
flooded with the most awesome pictures
of faeries which I have been saving. They
will look so cool with all the borders I have.

pretty in purple

I don't even know what kind of flowers these
are. Karen? They're pretty though. I'm
running out of images to use for cards so
I ordered a few more, plus I've been finding
TONS of faerie images on pinterest, so
expect to see lots of those! I love faeries
and unicorns.






And once again I go to put the picture on
the blog only to find that I forgot to
move it from my phone to the computer.
Sigh.

We were supposed to get some ice today, but so
far nothing.  the advisory goes until 3 pm,
though, so it could happen.  I hate winter.
I may have mentioned that once or twice...
or more....

Time in a bottle

I love that song, “time in a bottle”.
Jim Croce was an amazing singer and
met such a sad end. It's been a whole
week now, since my mother died. I
can't believe this much time has passed
and yet sometimes it seems like it's been
so much longer. Robin is still here helping
my dad get things done that need to be
taken care of when someone dies. They picked
up mom's ashes yesterday. It's still so hard
to wrap my mind around all that has gone on.
This card has some pretty flourishes and flowers
on it.  My mom always loved flowers.

February RAK attack card

I love doing the RAK attacks. I was the
victim” once and it was so much fun. It
lifts your spirits when things seem pretty
hard to deal with. So I never miss a
chance-actually I'm on the monthly reminder
list-to brighten someone's day. Here's
the card I made for this month.





I always tuck a couple of ATC's in there as well.

It snowed again last night.  Maybe an inch or so.
Not too bad, I guess, but I am so over this snow
and cold.  It can get warm again any time.

Hello from Tinkerbell

I've had this stamp for forever and decided
maybe I should pull it out again. Maybe
I should go through ALL my stamps and
pull them out once in a while. The same
with all the dies I have. I am a hoarder.
I need to find a meeting. Anyway...





Tinkerbell  herself is embossed in gold and
why I didn't think to emboss the Hello part
is beyond me.  It would have looked nicer.

Tomorrow will be another hard day for my
dad.  He has to pick up the death certificate.
I think her ashes will be back sometime this
week as well.  We will wait for a nice day 
before laying her to rest with her parents in 
Toledo, which was her wish.  There is one more
place in the family plot for my father.  It
still doesn't seem quite real.

We know that while we are at home in the body
we are away from the Lord,

rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord.

Music, music

One of the card sites I'm on had copied a
request from the internet about a veteran
who was lonely because he didn't get any
mail. They showed a picture of him sitting
in the window looking at the mailbox sadly.
They asked for cards for his birthday which
is coming up in April and wanted people to
start sending them right away. So here
is what I came up with for that sweet man.



I've had this image for quite some time, and
it seemed perfect for this colour card and design.
I love the corner because it reminds me of a
birthday bow.

Zebra portrait

This one is mine! I found the pattern on
pinterest and I love it! Adding the Zebra
just made it perfect! There are just some
cards I don't want to get rid of.





Speaking of cards...we went through some of
my mom's things yesterday and I brought home
all the cards I'd sent her that she saved.
Plus a cross stitch that I made  years ago
and my sister in law, laurel, who died recently,
made into a pillow.  I told my mom I was going to
make it and she asked if I could add another 
little girl.  Surprisingly, I was able to.  I don't know
how I did cross stitch.  I tried to make one a few
years ago and kept messing up the stitches. 
 Maybe because I was younger.   It was another
hard day but not the last, I'm sure.

It was warm enough yesterday to melt away most 
of the snow!  But now we are back to cold weather
and wind.  You can't win for losing, I guess.

Meerkat munchies

This is my kind of Valentine treat. I know
someone I'd like to name a cockroach
after. No names, LOL






This is one of my newest little girls.
She kind of reminds me of “the thinker”
so I used that sentiment on the card.
I think she's a little cutie!





Yesterday was a difficult day. We went to the
funeral home to make arrangements.  I've
known the folks there for years; they
used to come in to the restaurant.   So
that was comforting.  I'm not sure how long
Robin is staying, but dad needs a lot of help
right at the moment so she is spending her
time there rather than mostly with me.

Heaven's newest resident

At 1:15 AM February 12, my mother, Barbara
Sanders, entered into Heaven's gates to meet
her Savior face to face. It's been a long road
for her. A hard road many times. But the
reward is well worth the journey.



My sister, Robin, drove through a rain, then
snow storm all night Sunday night, from
North Carolina. My brother traveled from
Detroit in that same storm, this time just
snow. My son, Nathan, and his wife, Crystal,
as well, from Grand Rapids. God got them
all here safely. Monday night into Tuesday
we had a terrible ice storm. My brother and
son are safely home and my sister will probably
leave this weekend. 

The Lord allowed her to see one last birthday.
On February 1,  she turned 82 years of age.

We will miss her, but as Christians we know that
our loved ones are not "lost".  We know exactly
where they are and what's more, we know -we
are ASSURED - that we will be reunited with
them once again.  

1 Thessalonians 4:13-18

13 Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. 14 For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him. 15 According to the Lord’s word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep. 16 For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. 18 Therefore encourage one another with these words.


So you see, it is never a farewell for Christians. 
It is, "I'll see you again someday."

A late birthday

I finally got an address to send my granddaughter,
Bri's birthday card. It's only two days late.
Today. When she receives it, it will be a little
later than that, but better late than never, I guess.





I heard we had a chance of freezing drizzle today,
but it looks like they've moved that on to tonight
which works for me since Cody and Pam are
traveling back from Indy today.  They've been
on a weekend jaunt  to an anime convention.
From the pictures he's been posting, it looks
like they are having a great time.

that I didn't need a pattern. Pretty

Meerkats are one of my favourite animals.

The wind has pretty much died down thankfully.
I have a headache this morning, though, which
is undoubtedly from the weather.  All the warmer
temps were just a tease from mother nature.

Valentine loaded hoop

I wish they would have more of these swaps
because I like doing the hoops and getting
them-so far I only have one (thanks, Karen!)
But I thought it would be cool to have a
whole wall full of them. So here is mine
for a Valentine swap. I haven't received
mine back yet.





I put a bunch of tulle behind it so they
can use it for other things as well.

It has been so windy since last night AND...
dusting of snow.  AND... cold.  AND...
Cody and Pam went on a weekend to Indy
so I have to go over and walk their dog, 
Bailey, several times a day.  Yuk.  If B'Elanna
wasn't such a jerk I'd just bring Bailey over
here but she will grown and lunge at her.
Bailey is bigger but she just backs off.  She
is a very calm and sweet dog.  Unlike mine.

full of hearts

This card was fun to make. Very confusing,
but fun. I like how it turned out. When you
first see all those holes, though, it's kind
of hard to make out which goes where.





More rain today and then cold again tomorrow,
but they have promised that it won't be as
cold as last week.  I'm going to hold them to
that.  I know where you are.....LOL.

Tonight is coffee chat and Pam and I will have
dinner before.  That's always fun.

Happy Valentine's day!

It just dawned on me that if I was going to
send out Valentine cards I probably should
get to it pretty quickly. Here's the next
to last one in the set .





This year is already rolling by quickly.  Not
quickly enough, though.  I want warm weather.
Sometime in the night we got a huge rainstorm
complete with thunder.  I was going to get up
and look out the window to see what was
going on but I fell back to sleep.  It's still raining
this morning.  They had predicted freezing rain,
though, and I don't see any evidence of that.
At least not now.

 I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content
whatever the circumstances.  I know what it is to be in need, and I know
