Sassi snaps

I had fun yesterday (and spent
too much money). Pam and I
went to the home of a lady who sells
Sassi snaps.  What are those?  You
ask?  It is a piece of jewelry-a
necklace, bracelet, etc. that has a place
to put a snap that you can change
at will.  Clear as mud?  Here's a photo.

You can see the round "button" at the bottom
of the bracelets.  That's where you snap in
one of the buttons below.  Here's a close up
of the snaps.

Aren't they cool?  She had so many snaps
that I was truly overwhelmed.  It's hard
to pick just a few from hundreds.

When we finished that we went to eat
because we were both starved.  Then went
to a place that Pam likes to walk and spent
an hour or so walking.  It was beautiful,
warm and nice to get out and walk
together and talk.  I think we should
do that more often.

 Happy Monday!

I'm done!

I finished tiling my floors last
night and if I don't say so myself,
it all looks pretty great!  the other
tile was old, yellowed (we're talking
the peel and stick tile) and just generally
looked horrid.  If I would mop it you
really couldn't tell.  With the new tile
you can't tell if it's dirty in the first
place!  Yay!

Breakfast was really fun yesterday
and no signing for me today.  It
will be nice to just sign from my
chair and not up front.

Back to another Christmas card. I'll be
ready for next year!  I love the design
but I think it would have looked better
in different colours.  It didn't start out
to be a Christmas card, but I didn't know
what other image to use with the colours
I used.  Maybe I'll make another one
some time.

Happy Sunday!

Silent breakfast

At the end of the Saturday morning
classes we always go out to a silent
breakfast.  Not only does this help us
to practice outside of a classroom,
but it gives us an idea of how deaf
people might feel when others look
their way  with curiosity or other
emotions .  We have a tendency to
look at anyone who is "different" and
it makes them uncomfortable, so it's
a good thing to experience.

I thought about putting some gemstones
in the center of each of these, but I have
a pattern similar to this and I did that
and it looked like a bunch of eyes,
so I decided not to!  😁  I love the pattern.
Later today I hope to finish the tiling
in the small entry way at the front door.
I'm pretty sure I have enough tile left.
Then all the floors will look good.  If
I had the money I would replace the
carpet in the bedrooms, or better yet
make them hardwood like the rest of
the house, but that's not something I
can afford to do.  Nor do I have the
expertise.  I barely know how to tile!
Happy Saturday!

Stripes and splotches

I don't think I really like this card
but I suspect it will get thrown
away anyway, so I'm not going
to worry about it too much.

I can't tell if I got the 'Happy birthday'
straight or not, with the lines going
across, but I guess it doesn't matter
because I often put things crooked
on purpose because I can't get them
straight.  The joke "I can't cut straight
with a ruler" is not really a joke.  I can
cut something crooked on the paper
cutter, too.  True story.  It's quite
aggravating actually.

This is going to be a long day, I
can tell.  It hasn't been going so
well so far and it's only 8:35.  I
hope it gets better.

Happy Friday!

Flowers for Mother's day

Real flowers die, so I am opting
for flowers on a card (of course!)

I'm not even sure when Mother's day is
but I'm ready for it.  What I'm not ready
for is my son's birthday which is May 3.
I need to get moving on that!

I found this on Facebook recently.  I
think  my biggest problem on the list
(note:  I said my BIGGEST problem.  I
have problems with all of them) is
"I can't do it".  I really need to work on that.
Happy Wednesday!

Dandelions

Gasp.  I've already seen them!  Barely
any warm weather but these little
pains show up.  Yesterday it was in
the 70's, though, so I'm not complaining.
I guess the rest of the week is going
to be in the 50's with rain.

I haven't used this die in a while
and saw a card similar to this one
so I pulled it out, played and
this is what I came up with.
I like it.

A new royal baby!  I was hoping
they would have a girl, but it's
just because I never got one, I guess.
At least they have one.  I wonder
what they will name the new little guy?

I'm having lunch with Dianne today
and then making a dish called "One
pot dinner" in the crock pot and some
bread in the bread maker for my brother
in law and sister in law .  Larry ought to
be relaxed enough after dinner that I
can easily beat him in cards.  At
least that's the plan.  ;)

 Happy Tuesday!

Let's play!

The piano, that is.

This is one of the new patterns I just
got.  I love it!  The piano is 3-D, but it's
hard to tell.
Yesterday we managed to find
Pam a beautiful dress for her
daughter, Sam's wedding on the 4th.
I don't mind shopping for clothes as
long as they aren't for me.  I hate
clothes shopping.  I wear the same thing
over and over just so I don't have to
go clothes shopping.  I ended up
getting some dress pants and a nice
top for the wedding.  At least
I'll wear those again.
The song, "Blessed Assurance" came
out so beautifully yesterday.  I love
the gloss we came up with.  Coleen
and I make a good team.  ;)
Tonight is our last Monday class.
I'm going to miss it.  Coleen's second
level classes start on the 21st of next
month.  It's a little farther to go, but
I want any practice I can get and it's only
one day a week so I plan to go to those.
Happy Monday!

Good friend

This card was a little bit of a pain
to make but it was really worth it.
I love the flower spray.

I stamped the sentiment right on the card
but, naturally, got it a tad crooked, so
I'm not as happy about that, but I
still love the card.  I got my new patterns
yesterday, so I'll be having some fun
with those.
Right after I get two of these songs
memorized for this morning.
"Blessed Assurance " will be fine, but
the first one has given me trouble
since day one.  Oh, well.  It's all in
God's hands.
Happy Sunday!

Last thoughts of winter (I hope)

This is the last of the templates I
got.  I paired this with a blue jay,
thinking it might make a nice
Christmas card for next year.
I do have a couple of other patterns
that are for Christmas but I've been
putting them off because I don't
want to think about the cold.

Today is going to be busy.  I have class
this morning-the last one of this 10 weeks-
Wow, the time goes quickly!
Then my son, Nathan and his wife Crystal,
are coming to take me to lunch.  I'm
really looking forward to that!  I also
plan to go to church tonight to practice
the songs.  We have a new one this week.
Well, not really new, but one I've never
signed.  "Blessed Assurance".  We didn't
even have a gloss for it so Coleen and I
worked on it a few days ago and I need
to practice big time on all three.
My floors are done!!!!!  I do have enough
left to do the entry way by the front door,
so I will probably work on that next week.
Right now I am so sore I can barely move.
It's going to be fun signing.
Happy Saturday!

Bluebird

This is the second of the three dies
I got the other day.

This one you have to prick the holes
just like a regular pattern.  I thought
they self pricked when you put them
through the die machine.  I don't
know why I thought it would be a
good idea to get any of these, but
they were on clearance.

The bathroom is nearly finished and then
I will have beautiful floors!  The tile that was
there was old, yellowed, ugly.  I am thrilled.
It is not professional by any means, but
if I ever sell the house and the new owners
don't like it they can re-do it themselves!
I think it looks pretty good.

Happy  Friday!

New templates

The template I'm showing today
will prick the holes for you, which
is pretty convienient.   You just have to
run it through the die cut machine.
The other two I ordered you still have
to prick-which I didn't know, but
oh, well.  Here's the card:

Here's the dies:

I love the pattern!
My sister in law has been helping me-
well, she's been doing most of it-
to put down new tile in my laundry room/
bathroom.  We have the laundry room
done.  I'm waiting on my dad to help me
remove the door stop in the bathroom
because that thing just won't come out.
I thought maybe a man could convince it.
So here's the laundry room:

Trust me, if you'd seen the other tile
you would understand why I wanted
it re-done.  I've had the tile for 3 years,
but my brother hasn't had time/energy
to finish it for me, so I thought it was
high time I figured a way to get it done.
It looks so amazing!!!
Happy Thursday!

A ring of daisies

I like this pattern.  I found it and
was excited to stitch it.  The problem
came when I finished it I couldn't
seem to think of a way to make a
card out of it.  I finally came up
with this, but I don't like it.  At all.

That happens sometimes.  It's really
aggravating, though.

My brother in law is off on his annual
family fishing trips.  Brothers, Nephews,
etc.  No women, just the guys. So Laurel
and I are going to get together and look
for a dress for me (top on my list of
things I hate is shopping for clothes), go
to lunch and then she is going to
(hopefully) teach me how to tile a floor.
I have had the tiles for 3 years.  My brother
did one bathroom, but has never
been able to get back to do the laundry/
bathroom and I just hate the floor with a
passion.  So I am hoping I can get that done.
I have never tiled anything before, but
Laurel has, so I really hope I can do it.
The biggest problem I see is the washer/dryer.
That's going to be fun to work around.
The room isn't very big, so I'm not sure
how that will work but she feels
confident that it will.

Happy Tuesday!

Rose easel card

Easel cards are so cool.  I
always worry, though, that the
recipient won't know how to
stand it up.

This one I don't have any doubt about.
I like it.  I love the beads around the
edges.  Ordinarily I'm not a huge fan of
beading in any way, but it looks good on
the few that I've done.

This is  a picture of the trees outside
of my dad's house.  The ice melted quickly
but that's not the point, Mother Nature.

Happy Monday!

Lacy edge

I really don't know if I like this card
or not.  It's not how I envisioned
it, but I'm not sure how I envisioned
it, so I can't be sure.  I just can't decide
if I like it or not.  The stitching is fine,
but the composition of the card...
Maybe  I should have put a better
bow on the ribbon instead of a knot.
I don't know.  What I do know is
I think I'm going to go to bed
and start this day again.  When
I went outside to walk B'Elanna
I discovered that we are getting
FREEZING RAIN!!!!!

What the heck???

Happy Sunday.....I think.

Yellow for sunshine

I think it's going to be raining all
day, but this image seems sunshiny
to me.  If we could hear the
birds sing it would seem even
more like Spring.
Hey!  That rhymes!

I'm not a huge fan of canaries, I mean, all
they do is sing and you can't play with them
or anything, but I had this image hanging
around and it goes well with the card
colour and stitching so...

I also forgot to post this yesterday.  I think
it is so cool.

Sometimes that's hard to remember!
I don't know about anyone else,
but when I want something, I want
it now and find it hard to wait or
postpone something.  I think that's
pretty much human nature, though.

Happy (rainy) Saturday!

Let me call you sweetheart

I just LOVE this little girl image.
I think I have one left.  Anyway,
she looks like a little sweetheart
to me, thus the name...

Another of my issues is thinking things
ought to all be shown, so it was
with great trepidation that I hid part
of the main image underneath the
stitched panel and surprise of all
surprises, I liked how it came out!

We had a thunderstorm last night.
It wasn't a big one, but enough to let
me know that Spring is coming soon.
Maybe.  Today it is back to cold and
windy, but I think it's supposed to be
in the 70's later today.  it was almost
75 yesterday and I was thrilled.
I have come to the conclusion, though,
that our area has become a two season
state.  Winter and Summer.  We really
don't have much of anything in between.

I had better get to my Bible study.  I
skipped yesterday because a friend texted
me early in the  morning and I was concerned
about her and couldn't focus.   I am so
grateful to live in a country where I don't
have to worry about saying those words
or getting caught doing it.  I don't think
I mentioned that as a study tool I am
copying the Bible.  A friend told me she
did it and it made sense to me.  It slows me
down.  I think more.  I've gotten all of
John done and I'm working on I Samuel
right now.  When I did John (and I will
most likely skip around) I did Jesus' words
in red.  It really is a powerful experience
for me.  I don't just read, I understand more.

Happy Friday!!

Private Bri

I'm all for social media.  I use
it.  But it's not the best way to
find out startling news that you
wish you'd heard in person, phone
call or text.....

My granddaughter, Bri, joined
the Army.  I was hoping it was a joke...

I cut a circle in the center of the
stitching and added a piece of stamped
vellum under it, then added the
image.  I love how it turned out!
Happy Thursday!

I have a secret

I had forgotten all about this
page of images.  I was so excited
to find it!  I found this pattern
floating around on the internet.

Isn't she adorable?!
I found out some sad news yesterday.
A dear man that I know died.  His
name was Fred and he was deaf.  I
didn't know him well, but the few times
I met him he was so kind and encouraging
to me.  He always had a huge smile.
He and his wife used to come into my
mom and dad's tea room  when they
had it years ago.  Now he is in the
loving arms of his Savior and reunited
with his beloved wife.  Someday they will
be reunited with those who loved
them here on Earth.
 Rest in Peace, Fred.  💔

It seems weird to say this after
talking about  sadness, but

Happy Wednesday!

One big step Sunday

First I'll show the card I made:

I've had this pattern for a while but
for some reason never made it  I
really think it turned out nicely.  I
love the colours.  It's variegated so
I used two different strands and
traded between them.  In order to get
all the colours you'd have to have a
very long strand which is
impossible to work with.

So, my big step?
Sunday I traded places with
Coleen and I signed the service.
We didn't tell anyone; I thought
Pam might say no  and I
really wanted to try.  That was
probably not the wisest decision
upon reflection. I probably should
have told her. I think I did
pretty good.  I got a couple of signs
mixed up- and I knew it and did
it again- 😡 I didn't keep up perfectly,
but I don't think I was that far
behind.  I really enjoyed the
experience.

Happy Tuesday!

great design, not so great colour!

This card didn't come out like I hoped. I don't like the colour of the card stock. But it's still a great design. ...
