Going a-flutter

This card and one other are two cards that I
don't have a clue to send them to, LOL.
I mean, there isn't anyone in my life (and I
plan to keep it that way) that causes my
heart to go a-flutter. But the card is cute!

B'Elanna was feeling a little off last night
and I was a little worried, but she seems fine
today.  It ended up keeping both of us up
until 3 am.  It's very cold today, but the
furnace is keeping up at 68 so far.  I'm sleeping
in the spare room tonight as it will be warmer.
I brought Lili's cage in from the bird room
because that room will not stay warm enough.
Also, closing off the door will give the heater
less to contend with.  I'll be so glad when the
polar vortex goes back to the North pole where
it belongs!!

For I am not ashamed of the gospel,
because it is the power of God that brings salvation
to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.

buzzing little bees

On to the Valentine cards! These little
bees are so darned cute! After I made the
little bee girl I realised that I had a bee
die that I could have used to make some bees
buzzing around her, so maybe I'll make that
again sometime, but these little guys are
special Valentine bees!

I didn't get out and measure, but we got between
4-5 inches of snow yesterday.  And about a half
inch last night.  I'm glad my snowblower is
working again.  Now comes the terrible cold.  I
am quite sure that I have never experienced anything
below maybe -5 degrees so this will be scary.  I'm
not looking forward to it.

I finished my unicorn!

It's very sparkly in real life but I couldn't
get that in a picture.

Kimono time

You knew it was coming, right? Here is the
last of the Asian cards, a kimono. I have
a really beautiful kimono that my friend,
Karen's husband, Skip, brought me from
Japan years ago. Much prettier than this old thing:

This is my diamond painting so far.
I'm closer to finishing it now. I don't know if I'll
be able to find a frame, though, since it's square.

 Isn't it cool?

It's snowing and blowing like crazy!  I'm
glad Larry was able to get my snowblower
going, but there's little point in the blowing snow.

Isaiah 54:10

 Though the mountains be shaken
    and the hills be removed,
yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken
nor my covenant of peace be removed,”

do you need light?

I don't know how much light this lantern
will actually give you, but it sure is pretty!

It has been snowing since last night.  We have
about three inches and I heard we are supposed
to have 6 inches, possibly.  I'm holding out that
it will quit.    I can't wait until summer!  Fingers
crossed that I can drive out because I don't
feel like shoveling.  It's fluffy snow again, but
I still don't want to do it.

 Carry each other’s burdens,
and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.

Asian fan number two

The is the second style of Asian fan. I think
I like it better than the first one.

I spent a great deal of time yesterday working
on my diamond painting. It is so pretty and
sparkly. It's also quite addicting and I already
want to buy more. If you don't get a huge one
they really aren't much money. I like small
fiddly things-like the stitching and rubber
band bracelets so this is right up my alley!

Galatians 5:14

For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command:
Love your neighbor as yourself.”

Back to Asia

It has been so bitterly windy since last
night. I don't even want to poke my nose
out the door. I've heard that it's supposed
to get even colder. Wind chill temps at
below zero. WAY below zero from what I'm hearing.

So I'm going to try not to think about that and
think about cards instead. Here is a new
set of Asian cards.

I really like this pattern.  But I love anything Asian.

Since the first tiny little diamond painting turned
out so well I went and got a bigger one at hobby
lobby last night.  It's a unicorn and I hope it
turns out as pretty as the little lady bird.  This
may become my new favourite hobby.  It's a little
hard on my shoulder, but I just need to pace
myself and not try to get it done all in one day.
The one I got yesterday will in no way be done
quickly.  It's  11x14, i think, or thereabout.

Romans 8:38-39

For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons,
neither the present nor the future, nor any powers,
neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation,
will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Best friends

As much as I love these two little girls,
ohmygosh! There are tons of itty bitty
tiny pieces that I had no idea what to do with!
I finally figured it out, but it took quite a while.
I think the result is worth it, though!

And still I forget to do their cheeks!

I discovered something yesterday.   I was eating
something with some ranch on the side.  I left
the plate in the sink them put a copper bottom pan
on top of it.  Look what happened:

copper cleaner!  My friend asked what that
meant for our insides, though.  I wish she hadn't.

I bought a tiny diamond painting knock off
and put it together yesterday.  It actually is
kind of fun.  This looks much better from a
distance, but I like how it turned out and I
may buy a bigger one.

Mermaids

I loved this die set when I saw it, but I forgot I am
terrible at putting together scenes. I'm almost
embarrassed to show this! Heads up, Karen-
you are getting this die set.

Here is the card from yesterday this time
with flowers.  It looks much better.

We got ice last night.  They issued an advisory
(remember when that used to be called a warning?)
from 3-11 pm, then extended it to 1 am.  I took
B'Elanna out and she put one foot out the door
and slid, poor thing.  I just stood in the doorway.

Psalm 121:1-2

I lift up my eyes to the mountains—
where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth.

I love that the song ""praise you in this storm"
uses these words straight from the Bible.

Another one of those days...

Yesterday was not a red letter day. I went
out to start my car and at first I thought
it wasn't going to start, then it fired up.
I chalked it up to the cold. I went to walmart,
came out and it started no problem. Went
to meijer, it did NOT start. Dead battery. I
got a jump but was unable to get a battery
last night, so I'm hoping it will start and I
don't have to call for another jump. I'm
happy for insurance!

Here is another new little girl. I've got
so many now and they are such fun to do.

I had intended this background for another card,
but that one is going to have to go on a large
card, but the background fit perfectly for this one!

Birthday balloons

One of my new little girls came with balloons
and what a better way to use that but in
a birthday card?!

I think she's adorable!

We  had an incident in church yesterday.  We
have two sets of identical (and mischievous  ) sets
of twins.  A few months ago one twin in the older
set of twins set off the fire alarm during the church
service.  Since no one seemed to panic, the worship
service went on-I was signing  that week.
I saw a flashing light but thought someone was
taking a picture until I saw people hurrying out.
The fire department naturally had to come, but
they told them it was a false alarm.  I didn't see the
fire department yesterday, but one twin from the
younger set of twins tried the same trick.  Church was
over at that point and we were all standing around
talking.  It was VERY loud!!! Non stop fun with
two sets of twins!

It is so cold today that all schools were delayed 2 hours.
I don't know what the temp is at the moment, but
it's extremely cold out.  Since there's no mail and I have
no pressing engagements (like I ever do), I'm staying
in the house under the blankets unless I need to
take the dog out.  She is lounging around in her pj's.

Be devoted to one another in love.
Honor one another above yourselves.

longing for Summer-bumblebee

We got about 3 inches of snow dumped
on us yesterday, but the blowing makes
it a little worse. Auburn, Indiana, on the
other hand got 7-8 inches. Unfortunately
that's where I'm headed so I hope the roads
are OK. They should have the highway
cleared by now. The snow stopped hours ago.
Soooo.....in thinking about summer...

Isn't she a cutie?  I have been having a lot of
fun with my new little girls.  I made the wings
with vellum at first, but I didn't like how the
hair showed through, it just looked weird,
so I opted for plain wings instead.

whatever you did for one of the least of these

Asian temple and bookmark

It is snowing like crazy and we probably have at least
an inch and half, maybe two. I didn't stay out
long enough to measure.

Here is the last of this type of Asian card. I hate
how the steps look but that's the pattern.

And I got a new toy yesterday!  This is such
a beautiful bookmark that I couldn't resist
getting it!

Usually I like dangly things from the bookmark,
maybe a tassel or just fibres, but this one is
so pretty.  I put it on the back of  a shiny piece
of card stock, but it would look just as pretty plain.

Because His compassions fail not.

Snow storm coming

It looks like I will have plenty of time to
work on cards for the next couple of
days. They are predicting appx 4-7”
between tonight and tomorrow night.
I can't tell you how much I'm NOT
looking forward to it. Here is the
third of the four Asian card set.

And there are the infernal birds.  Those are
so difficult!  They don't look difficult...

I'm happy to report that B'Elanna is

back to herself, no sniffles or wheezing.
She's gotten me through some rough
times and I want only the best for her.
Lili, too, but it's hard to cuddle a
bird. Unless its a cockatoo. They are
called the “velcro bird” LOL. They
love to be petted and cuddled. They
also have lots of powder on their feathers
that you breathe in. And they are loud.
VERY LOUD!!!!!

but always pursue what is good both for yourselves and for all.

Tranquil bridge

I could swear I've posted this one before, and
if I have, sorry. It's one of my favourites
and doesn't have the birds in it. I hate those
birds. When you look at it after the holes
are poked it is just a series of holes that make
no sense whatsoever. I always have trouble
stitching them. At least with most of the
patterns you can see the actual pattern in
the holes, but not the little birds!

B'Elanna has been feeling a little under the weather
so I snapped this photo of her curled up under
the covers on the bed. I took her to the vet
and she just has a small cold, lungs clear,
etc.  She's taking antibiotics for a week just
in case as she was wheezing yesterday.

who gives to all liberally and without reproach,
and it will be given to him.

Asian inspired

Now for some Asian inspired designs. I do NOT
think these “things” on the bridge look like people
but that's what they are supposed to be. I love
the rest of the design, though.

I think they look much better in all one colour
so they rest of them will be that way too.  The same
way with the gardenscape cards.  Some just
look better in all one colour.

I am hearing bad weather reports. I
really wish these weather people would
stop using swear words on air. Hasn't
anyone told them that “snow” is a four
letter word? So for the weekend they
are predicting anywhere from 1-3 to 5-8
inches of snow depending on which channel
you are watching at the time. I have a
feeling that I'm not going to be able to
go to church Sunday...

And whose hope is the Lord.

Last but not least

I had some trouble uploading pictures today
for some reason. This is probably my
favourite of the six except for one thing:
when I was about halfway done I noticed
that the card stock had some flaws in it
(the two dots in the center). Well, there
was no way I was starting again, LOL.
So don't look-now that I've pointed it
out to you!

The morning is not starting out well.  I woke at
3 am, finally got up at 4 am and now I'm tired
and the day has barely begun.  At least I have
lunch with Dianne to look forward to.  I'm
also going to see my mom, too, and take her
some banana bread I made.  It's got to
be better than what they feed her.

Psalm 55:22

Cast your burden on the Lord,
And He shall sustain you;
He shall never permit the righteous to be moved.

Where does the door lead?

I don't know where the door leads, but I love
this pattern. It was quick and easy and so
pretty.

I thought the snow was going to be a lot worse
than it was.  We got about an inch and half
and Auburn maybe a little more.  Most of
it went south and that was OK with me.  The
roads were nice and clear so I didn't have   any
trouble getting to church.

Isaiah 55:6-7

Seek the Lord while He may be found,
Call upon Him while He is near.
Let the wicked forsake his way,
And the unrighteous man his thoughts;
Let him return to the Lord,
And He will have mercy on him;
And to our God,
For He will abundantly pardon.

Happy Monday!
I heard it was cancelled, so you can all
go back to bed!

It could have been worse

We got about an inch and half of snow
yesterday. I could probably plow through
it with the car, but I am going to go out
and try to convince my snowblower
to start. Other people got a lot worse
from winter storm Gia, though, so I
am trying not to complain.

Here is the fourth card of the gardenscape
series. I love how these are turning out!

And now I have to go get rid of snow.
But first...

Parked bicycle

I love this bicycle one, but I had to start
over again when I realised it would be
much easier to stitch the inside of the
wheels first instead of the mudflap. At
least I wasn't too far into it. I would have
taken the stitches out but it was more
trouble than it was worth to do that.

My son, Nathan, and his wife Crystal,
were going to come all the way from Grand
Rapids, MI to church tomorrow, but
because of the dicey weather predicted
we are going to postpone it until next
weekend. I'm bummed, but I think it's
the better decision. I'm really excited that
they want to come!

Samuel 16:7
But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look at his appearance
or at his physical stature, because I have refused him.
For the Lord does not see as man sees;
for man looks at the outward appearance,
but the Lord looks at the heart.”

Happy Saturday!

great design, not so great colour!

This card didn't come out like I hoped. I don't like the colour of the card stock. But it's still a great design. ...
