glittered butterfly

I don't use this glittered paper much
so when I saw a card that used it
I decided to get it out. The butterfly
doesn't come off the die easily with this
type of paper, but I managed and I like
how it turned out.

I made this at the same time as a few

others that I've already shown and as
you can see, I was temporarily into
using this rose card stock. I originally
got it for a Christmas project that
didn't work out so now I have a tablet
of it that I really should use up.

The lawn needs mowing and my arm has
been hurting so badly that I don't know
if I can do it or not, but I really need to
try. I am seriously considering telling
my doctor I am ready for surgery at
this point. It's hard to stitch or do much
of anything else, and it's getting frustrating.

Black, white and red

What is black and white and red all
over? OK, not ALL over....

  I just love this image!

Last night's coffee chat was not well
attended. Sam and her family were
there, and Pam and I, but that's all.
After they left, Pam and I went to DQ
for a while. I am really going to miss
summer. I don't want to think about the
fact that it's going to be over in the
blink of an eye.

I forgot to write about this yesterday!
We went to KFC and I tried the pickle
fried chicken! At first I thought it
didn't really taste very much like pickles,
but the second piece had pickle juice
under it and wow, was it good! My new
favourite chicken! I am going to have
to have more of that. I don't go to KFC
much, but I hope they will add it to their
regular menu so when I go back again
it will be there. YUM!

Vacation report...

Those two nearly killed me. We went hiking in
three different state parks. Over rocks, around
streams (I didn't want to get my feet wet, so
over the rocks was the hard way) around fallen
trees, etc. etc. Pam kept saying, “just a little
bit farther, there's a really cool waterfall
and cave up here. I thought she was just
trying to get me to keep going because I sure
didn't see any cave, nor did I hear a waterfall.
I am so sore and tired and I don't think I'll
ever try anything like that again! But we had
so much fun! First the card...

Now a couple of pictures...

I didn't take too many pictures as I was
trying to keep my footing on those hiking
paths...But here's a couple.  As I said, we
had a great time!    And a big thank you
to my daughter in law, Pam, who took care of
my doggie and birdie while I was gone.  :)

Sweet little flower girl

I still have a couple of cards left
that I used the gorjuss dolls on. Actually,
I still have a few dolls I haven't used yet.
Anyway, here's one of the cards:

  I don't think I've used this particular
stitching pattern before. I love it.

It poured like crazy last night. I just
wish there would have been thunder,
too, but you can't have everything.
On the up side, the grass looks a little greener.

I will not have a blog for the next few
days. I'm going to Brown county, IN
with my friend, Pam, and her son Josh.
I've never been there, but I hear it's a
really cool artsy town. There are other
small places around, too, like Nashville.
I think we will have a lot of fun.

Partially cut

This card did not come out as great as
the one I saw, but it's the best I can do, LOL.

I really love the sentiment, though.

We had an awesome thunderstorm yesterday
morning and it rained a great deal of the
day. It's still raining this morning,
although it's more of a mist. I think we
are due to get more over the weekend.
The grass is already getting green again.
The grass is greener in the winter compared
to what it has been. I hate saying that!

Let all that I am praise the LORD; with my
whole heart, I will praise his holy name.
Let all that I am praise the LORD;
may I never forget the good things he does for me.

Sad goodbye

Today my sister will be going home.
More accurately, she is going to Toledo,
spend the night with some cousins and
then going home. I will be sad to see
her go. I wish we lived closer.

This card was made using two different
patterns which is kind of a pain because
it took me three tries to line the top and
bottom up. The center lined up the
first time which is unusual. I went through
two cards before I got it right.

I do like how it came out, though.

Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all
your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’

Three rose squares

Sorry about the title, I'm having trouble
coming up with unique titles. I think I'm
just going to start doing the date or
something. It's not so stressful, LOL.

I saw a card similar to this and since I
still had this paper on my desk, I just
went with it. As with the others, I used
it to decorate the envelope flap as well.

I bought a bunch of envelopes last
year thinking I would make some envelope
scrapbooks for gifts, and they were on sale.
I ended up going with a different style so
now I have two boxes of envelopes. Rather
than make my own, it makes sense to
decorate the flaps and maybe stamp a
little bit on the front. I haven't done that
on the others, but it's a good idea.

plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to
give you hope and a future.

Rose wishes

My schedule has been so different with
my sister here that I completely forgot
to do my blog yesterday. Oops. I made
an envelope for the card I posted the other
day which I thought I took a picture of, but
apparently not. It is just like the envelope
with this card, though.

All I did was carry the paper I used
in the card over to the envelope flap.
It really spiffs it up, though. This card
opens where the white flap is so that the
diamond is hanging over the front of
the card. Does that make sense? You
open it by picking up the diamond. Is
that clear as mud now?

We had bad news yesterday. My Aunt and
uncle, who have been on hospice for about
a month now, died Sunday and yesterday.
My uncle was my mother's last living
sibling. I haven't seen her, but my dad said
she is doing OK. I'm not sure how that works,
since if I lost my brother and sister in law
I would NOT be okay, but that's what he says.

Blessed are those who mourn,
for they will be comforted.

Happy Wednesday!

Romantic butterfly

Another Monday. My sister will be heading
to my parents' house soon. She is planning
to spend as much time as possible there while
she is here. I have a few things I can catch
up on while she is gone. It was a busy but
fun weekend, and nothing got done.

I did, however, get a card made last night
that didn't take long at all. I saw it
on pinterest and I liked the composition
so I made one of my own.

I'm thinking maybe I'll add a couple
of pearls to the bottom right corner.
Now that I look at it on a bigger screen,
I think it still needs something. That
should do nicely.

New animals at the zoo

I was disappointed to not see any meerkats
at the zoo yesterday, but they did have a
new and very unusual animal at the zoo.
I took some pictures of the description on
the outside of the habitat:

I didn't get a picture of the one that said
do not feed the workers”! I thought they
were so funny!

  Here's some real animal pictures:

A baby Orangutan and a momma
monkey with her baby. I can't remember
what kind of monkey. I really didn't take
many pictures. I should have taken a
picture of the giraffes. They had a baby, too.
A seven foot baby! I bought a lettuce leaf
to feed one of them and he yanked it out
of my hand. I should have torn it in half.
But he enjoyed it and that's what counts.

Romans 8:26-27
In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness.
We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself
intercedes for us through wordless groans. And he who searches our
hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes
for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.

Zoo day

Happy zoo day! I'm really excited.
I haven't been to a zoo since the last
time I went to NC and I think only
twice since John died. We used to go
every year at least once, usually more
than that. Robin is coming along so it
will be that much more fun!

I have another grandson having a birthday
next month. This is the card I made him:

I got the dragon die cut from someone
in a swap. I thought it would be a
perfect addition to a birthday card and
I was right. I love it! Hopefully he will too.

So I need to get ready, but I'll leave you
with this verse:

Psalm 9:10

Those who know your name trust in you,
for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you.

Happy Saturday!

Just a-swinging

My sister is here! Well, not here, she's in
Michigan visiting with my parents, but
will be here later today. I'm pretty
excited and she may even join Coleen
and I and go to the zoo tomorrow.
How cool is that? I thought she would
be travelling all day today, but she changed
her itinerary .

Here is my new swinging girl. She and
the sailor girl are my very favourites.

I'm super happy with how it turned out

and that I could use my stitching and
make a regular card at the same time.
This card is a bigger one so I could do
that, otherwise the stitching wouldn't
have worked on it. Thankfully, the
taller cards-A7, I believe they are, are
just as cheap to send as the invitation
size. Unlike the square ones. Those
are 97 cents. Well, something like that.

  Romans 8:28
And we know that in all things God works for the good
of those who love him, who
have been called according to his purpose.

I don't know if I've used this verse or not,
but if so, it bears repeating.

Happy Friday!

Mickey's happy birthday

Happy birthday from Mickey!
I got this die yesterday at Hobby
Lobby. I've been eyeing it for a
while, but I wasn't sure how to use it.
After I got the gorjuss doll dies I
understood how to use it. This one is
a little different, though. Those have
separate pieces. This one you have to
cut 4 times in black, yellow, red and white,
then cut the pieces and place them on the
main die cut. A little bit of a pain, but well
worth it, I think. Here's the die cut alone:

 And on the card:

I cut the card about an inch and half on

the right side, then mounted the ovals
halfway onto the left side. When you
open the card, it says Happy Birthday .
This is for one of my grandsons.

Psalm 28:7
 The Lord is my strength and my shield;
my heart trusts in him, and he helps me.
My heart leaps for joy,
and with my song I praise him.

I've got some things to get done before I
leave for my brunch date with Pam.

Happy Thursday!

Butterfly pop up card

I saw the coolest card yesterday and had
to try it at once! It's a butterfly pop up
card. The butterfly is on the inside, but
comes through an opening in the front.
Here, see for yourself!

Isn't that awesome? I'm going to make
another one, though, and this time glue
two butterflies together. This particular
one is really delicate and doesn't go through
the opening very well. It sticks over the edge
just a little, so you fold the wings and then it
goes in the envelope nicely.  I just love it!

We got rain yesterday! It lasted for oh, about
2 minutes. The grass is so green this morning.
NOT.
We really need rain badly.

  Psalm 27:14
 Wait for the Lord;
    be strong and take heart
    and wait for the Lord.

Happy Wednesday!

Mouse in the house

No mouse in my house, but whoever owns
the apples and pears might have one.
Anyway, it's a pretty cute mouse.

I just got a wrong number TEXT! Someone

wanted to know my schedule and thanked
me for sending a CD. I don't know anyone
named Mary and I didn't send anyone a
CD so I told them they had the wrong
number. LOL, first time that's ever happened.

Relax, there's no fire

Yesterday I was in front signing and I
saw a flashing light out of the corner of
my eye. I thought someone was taking
pictures. Then the pastor got up and left
then  a couple of other people. All of a sudden
we hear an alarm. Since no one came running
in to tell us to leave, we just kept right on
singing. Soon, we were told not to worry,
there was no fire, a kid pulled the alarm.
I later learned that it was twin #1- one of Pam's
identical twin great nephews! I think they're
about four now. That made for an interesting
start to the service!

So, on to the card. This was a happy
accident. I scored along one corner
of the card. I knew I wanted to put
a frame on the front, but I wasn't
sure where or how to decorate it.
Then, when I stamped the sentiment
I accidentally got ink on the front. I
didn't want to scrap it. I moved the frame
around and thought it looked great with
the sentiment inside and then realized
I could place a flower over the ink and
while I was at it, a couple more. I love
how it turned out!

  Psalm 25:4-5

 Show me your ways, Lord,
    teach me your paths.
Guide me in your truth and teach me,
for you are God my Savior,
and my hope is in you all day long.

Happy Monday!

great design, not so great colour!

This card didn't come out like I hoped. I don't like the colour of the card stock. But it's still a great design. ...
