Triangle box

I saw a tutorial on pinterest this

morning for this triangle box.  I think

I need to stick with cards...

This box is supposed to have a belly band

to hold it closed because, as you can see, it

doesn't stay closed on it's own.  I was,

however, having lots of trouble

getting it  to slide off and on

so I resorted to ribbon and I don't

like it at all.  On the belly band I could have

added an embellishment and made it look

very nice.  Oh, well, tried and failed.  On

to the next project!

 

I think it's supposed to be in the 70's today

so I need to get out and mow the lawn.  I

miss not going to class!  I guess looking

on the bright side I'll save on gas, but

I still miss it!

New card fold

Well, it's new to me, at least.  the

person doing the tutorial called it

a "M" fold, but I think it's more of

a modified "M fold".  Very pretty, 

nonetheless.

This is the card semi closed since the

very small panel at the front doesn't want

to stay down.  I think when I send it

I will use a ribbon or cardstock belly

band.   I wish I'd  turned the dragonfly

a little more to the top but I was 

forgetting which way I intended to put

the square.  This is the card opened:

 

On the white panel is where you would

put a sentiment or write something.  It

fits in a standard envelope.  I was 

questioning that until I got it folded.  

Sometimes things look bigger to me

than they really are and I actually have

to put it in an envelope to make sure.

I think I have depth perception problems

or something!  Or maybe my brain is

just scrambled.  No comments.....

 

 I'm going to  church early on Sunday

to practice the songs since we didn't even

get the list until yesterday and Coleen can't

make it Saturday.  I think I'm only going

to sign "Amazing Grace" (my chains are

gone).  I've done it once before but I

can't remember all the signs exactly.

I hate that.  But I'm doing it for

the Lord and He's got this!  

 

It's a pretty day today, but I'm going to 

hang out inside and then tomorrow

I'll mow and trim etc.  I just plain don't

feel like doing it today.  I know.  I'm lazy!

I know it and I own it.  What more 

can I say?!

A little pink

It's cloudy and overcast today and I

love it.  We had a thunderstorm early

this morning but all I heard was a few

claps of thunder, then fell back to sleep.

I don't think we are supposed to get

any more rain today- a 30% chance, I

think.  That pretty much means no

rain.  But I hope it stays overcast

all day!!

Don't look too long.  The pink will blind

you.  I don't know, it just seemed like

a good idea at the time.  I think it's kind

of purty even though pink is not really

my colour.  I like black better.  You wouldn't

know it.  I have a hoodie the exact colour

as this card!

 

I'm going a little later to visit my insurance

lady.  She likes to "see her clients once

a year and make sure their insurance needs

are met".  I said, well, she seems to have

missed me the last three years.  I've never

even met her.  My sister in law says she

will try to sell me life insurance.  Sell

away.  I'm not buying.  Now if you can

give me a break on my car/house insurance

I'm all ears.  It's something to do, LOL

Pillow boxes

I got a new tool yesterday called a

pillow box punch board.

You cut your paper to 6 x up to 11" and

place it at the starting point.  Score around 

the curve and then down.  Move it to that

score line and repeat.  I found that I need

to score the curve several times to break

down the paper fibres in order to get  it

to fold in better.  But it's really easy to do

and quite addictive.

 

Does anyone have a party coming up that

they need favours for?!

 

No concert tonight.  Sadly the it was

postponed.  No reason was stated and no

future date.  Dianne and I were really 

looking forward to it!  :( 

 

I think it's going to be a halfway decent

day today.  I'm not doing anything outside

though.  My shoulder is still hurting

pretty badly and I don't want to push it.

I put heat on it several times yesterday

which seemed to help some.  At least I

was able to get some sleep.  I have a

little running around to do this morning 

and then I'm going to meet my dad for

coffee around noon.  I'm planning on 

doing nothing the rest of the day but

resting it.  Maybe I'll call my brother in

law and sister in law and see if they

would like to get beat in cards tonight....

Hello, Friend

I found the cutest Tim Holtz 

stamps with framelits (the exact

shape to cut out the stamp) and

an embossing folder that matches

the set.  It is so CUTE!  Since I

always have a 40% off coupon with

me via my phone, I decided to get

it.  Here's the card I made with

one of the stamps.

Isn't he just adorable?  I love the

wiggly eyes.

It's chilly out today!   I have to

keep reminding myself it's only May.

I finished weeding the front of

the house and am paying for it

now.  I planted a few vinca where some

of the weeds were.  I figure if the 

weeds can grow through those rocks,

so can vinca.  That stuff is hardy!  My 

sister in law gave me about 10

plants she dug out of her garden because

they grow so quickly and the place 

where I planted them is nearly filled

since last year!  I love it!  Pretty soon

there will be no weeds at all.  I hope.

Triple panel card

Good chilly morning.  It frosted a

bit here last night.  I hope my cherries

didn't get frozen.  I don't think it got

that cold.  I've had a bumper crop

the last couple of years, and I'm

hoping for another nice tree full of

cherries again this year.  I have friends

who like to make pie with them.  When I

got the tree, the guy told me they were

the next best thing to bing cherries.  

Wrong.  They aren't even sweet.  But

they make good pies, I guess.  

This is the triple panel card closed.

It wasn't happy about staying closed.

I put a couple glue dots on it, but it still

wanted to open up.  So, this is it

when it is happy and open.

 

It stands up  on it's own.  You would

have to write your sentiment on the

back of the card.  I guess  you could stamp

something on one of the side panels, but it

would show and I don't think it would

look as good.  The card fits in a 

standard envelope.

 

I am planning on taking the car for an

oil change so I am ready for the trip

to Battle Creek Wednesday.  It's a little

overdue anyway.   Then this afternoon

if it gets warm, I may pull some more

weeds.  I did some yesterday and

my shoulder hurts so much.  :(

But it really needs to be done.  I

keep hoping they will just go away

but no such luck.  Thanks a lot,

Jr. Legal pad holder

Another great tutorial from pinterest:

This is the front of the holder

Inside.  It is held together with a piece

of velcro you can see on the left hand

side.  the other piece is on the other side of

the blue part on the right.  I like how it

came out.    I wish I had made the top

of the legal pad in a different

colour, though, so it would stand

out from the holder.  I also made 

another note paper holder.

This is decorated much nicer than

the one from yesterday.

We had a silent breakfast today and

it was a lot of fun.  4 of the new students

came and they are really doing great.

 I had a "dumb" moment when I asked

if Pam (teacher) was coming to church

yesterday....oops,  tomorrow.  Well,

we all get stuff mixed up now and

then!  But it was great.  Last year the

server was very impatient with us, but

the one today was very sweet and

even said she enjoyed us.  She got a

good tip!  ;)  I need more practice

like that.  I also forgot about my blog

because I didn't do it right away.  What

can I say?  I'm old and have memory

problems!
