Winter cabin

It's very weird to show a winter cabin
card while it's raining and dark outside,
but hey-I already made the card!

We had an amazing thunderstorm last
night and one early this morning.  So
far it's just raining now, but I have heard
a few rumbles and we are expecting
more storms.  What more can I ask for?
Which means that I probably should turn
off the computer.  I can't afford to buy
a new one...
Happy Thursday!

Springtime bird house

I'm finally feeling like Spring/Summer
is going to come.  Yesterday it was
81 degrees!    In honour of the season
finally getting underway, I made a
little bird house.

I don't know if those are actually
Spring colours, but I thought they
 went well together.
Yesterday was a busy day and I have
a couple of errands to run today, but
I hope for a calmer day.  Tomorrow all
I have is a coffee chat in the evening.
Friday is Pam's daughter's wedding.
I think it's supposed to rain, though.
I hope it will hold off in the evening
which is when they are getting married.
Happy Wednesday!

New obsession

This obsession is called
passbooks.  You know, kind of
like a passport book.  I've only
made one so far

It has 12 pages.  On one page you put
a little note that the person you are
trading with has written about themselves.
on the other page you put their "stamp"
which is a piece of artwork  they've made
you for the trade.  I've seen some really
beautiful stamps.  Mine are going to
basically be ATC's. Naturally, they
will be stitched!   I've made three so
far.  I've already shown them here, but
I'll post them again

All three were traded instantly and I have
a ton of comments on them so I suspect I
will be trading many more.  I'm going to
put some pegasus cards up today as soon
as I finish the last one.  I  have a feeling
I'm going to really  have a great time with
this new art!   I love getting involved
in new trading.  Sometimes things get a
little boring and you need something new
to get your creative juices moving again.

I'm having breakfast with Dianne this
moring-I don't think we've ever  had breakfast
together before!  She has an appointment
later so can't make lunch.  Then this evening
I'm meeting Coleen to work on a new
song we have this week.  It will be a full
day and I love it!

Happy Tuesday!!

Sassi snaps

I had fun yesterday (and spent
too much money). Pam and I
went to the home of a lady who sells
Sassi snaps.  What are those?  You
ask?  It is a piece of jewelry-a
necklace, bracelet, etc. that has a place
to put a snap that you can change
at will.  Clear as mud?  Here's a photo.

You can see the round "button" at the bottom
of the bracelets.  That's where you snap in
one of the buttons below.  Here's a close up
of the snaps.

Aren't they cool?  She had so many snaps
that I was truly overwhelmed.  It's hard
to pick just a few from hundreds.

When we finished that we went to eat
because we were both starved.  Then went
to a place that Pam likes to walk and spent
an hour or so walking.  It was beautiful,
warm and nice to get out and walk
together and talk.  I think we should
do that more often.

 Happy Monday!

I'm done!

I finished tiling my floors last
night and if I don't say so myself,
it all looks pretty great!  the other
tile was old, yellowed (we're talking
the peel and stick tile) and just generally
looked horrid.  If I would mop it you
really couldn't tell.  With the new tile
you can't tell if it's dirty in the first
place!  Yay!

Breakfast was really fun yesterday
and no signing for me today.  It
will be nice to just sign from my
chair and not up front.

Back to another Christmas card. I'll be
ready for next year!  I love the design
but I think it would have looked better
in different colours.  It didn't start out
to be a Christmas card, but I didn't know
what other image to use with the colours
I used.  Maybe I'll make another one
some time.

Happy Sunday!

Silent breakfast

At the end of the Saturday morning
classes we always go out to a silent
breakfast.  Not only does this help us
to practice outside of a classroom,
but it gives us an idea of how deaf
people might feel when others look
their way  with curiosity or other
emotions .  We have a tendency to
look at anyone who is "different" and
it makes them uncomfortable, so it's
a good thing to experience.

I thought about putting some gemstones
in the center of each of these, but I have
a pattern similar to this and I did that
and it looked like a bunch of eyes,
so I decided not to!  😁  I love the pattern.
Later today I hope to finish the tiling
in the small entry way at the front door.
I'm pretty sure I have enough tile left.
Then all the floors will look good.  If
I had the money I would replace the
carpet in the bedrooms, or better yet
make them hardwood like the rest of
the house, but that's not something I
can afford to do.  Nor do I have the
expertise.  I barely know how to tile!
Happy Saturday!

Stripes and splotches

I don't think I really like this card
but I suspect it will get thrown
away anyway, so I'm not going
to worry about it too much.

I can't tell if I got the 'Happy birthday'
straight or not, with the lines going
across, but I guess it doesn't matter
because I often put things crooked
on purpose because I can't get them
straight.  The joke "I can't cut straight
with a ruler" is not really a joke.  I can
cut something crooked on the paper
cutter, too.  True story.  It's quite
aggravating actually.

This is going to be a long day, I
can tell.  It hasn't been going so
well so far and it's only 8:35.  I
hope it gets better.

Happy Friday!

great design, not so great colour!

This card didn't come out like I hoped. I don't like the colour of the card stock. But it's still a great design. ...
