Mini album (lots of pictures)

I haven't made a mini album in a

long time and had some trouble getting

started.  It finally came together, though, 

and I love it so much!

I made the backs of each page plain so I could

put an embellishment on it.  These are the

cards that go inside each pocket:

 

I was so happy with how it turned out

and hopefully the person it's going to

will love it too.

 

I didn't even write Happy Mother's

day yesterday!  Hope everyone had a

great day.  My friend, Coleen and I, went

to subway and had lunch and talked. 

We have so much in common while

being very different.  It's pretty cool.

 

I have to talk about Pam, too.  "Church

Pam" as my friend Dianne calls her,

to  differentiate from my daughter in law,

Pam.  Anyway...Her signing is so expressive.  

She uses angry faces, happy faces, etc.

so much so that you feel like you are really

hearing the person speak (when the pastor

is talking about Peter or something like that,

I mean).   Singing,  even moreso.  She

signs the songs with so much love and

worship for the Lord.  BUT.  Her signing

"You are good" by Kari Jobe is an

experience to behold.  It is one of the

most beautiful things I have ever seen.  You

can see the worship and love on her face,

in her eyes (when they're open, LOL) and

in the way her hands move.  It's a very 

emotional song anyway, but seeing her

sign it moves me to tears.  Someday maybe

I will be that expressive.  I have trouble

remembering to smile!

Hello in aqua

I don't use aqua very much.  I like bolder

colours as a general rule, but I'm 

getting tired of them, so I decided to

go for something a bit more subtle.

I meant to cut off the little curly cue

at the top of the flourish, but forgot.

I think it would have looked better that

way.  Otherwise I think it turned out

nicely.  Not like I expected, but then

they rarely do turn out the way I envision

them.  

 

It's a gorgeous morning, not chilly but

not hot either.  I think it's supposed to

get pretty warm later, though.  It

was in the middle 70's yesterday and

I was loving it.  Except the part about

mowing and trimming.  My next big

project is to pull out all the lights around

the house-which don't work right anyway

and even when I replace bulbs don't 

stay lit for long.  I'm going to get rid of the

RR ties around two of the "flower beds"

and replace it with grass seed.  I think

I have to get the weeds out first.....I 

need to get some new RR ties for the front

and side of the house too.  The other 

ones are quite rotten.  I've been

meaning to do it for a couple of years

now.  Outdoor things are not my

forte and I don't like doing them.  

Unfortunately I can't afford a landscape

guy.  I'd like to find a cute one who

will do it for free.  You know, kind

of like a pool boy, only for the

yard instead.  Anyone know someone

like that?  🤣

 

I have to be at church early today,

but I woke up way earlier than I

meant to.  Actually, I didn't sleep

most of the night.  My shoulder has

been killing me for a couple weeks now

and night time is the worst.  So I haven't

been sleeping very well.  You'd think I'd

be too  tired to care after doing yard work.

Triangle box

I saw a tutorial on pinterest this

morning for this triangle box.  I think

I need to stick with cards...

This box is supposed to have a belly band

to hold it closed because, as you can see, it

doesn't stay closed on it's own.  I was,

however, having lots of trouble

getting it  to slide off and on

so I resorted to ribbon and I don't

like it at all.  On the belly band I could have

added an embellishment and made it look

very nice.  Oh, well, tried and failed.  On

to the next project!

 

I think it's supposed to be in the 70's today

so I need to get out and mow the lawn.  I

miss not going to class!  I guess looking

on the bright side I'll save on gas, but

I still miss it!

New card fold

Well, it's new to me, at least.  the

person doing the tutorial called it

a "M" fold, but I think it's more of

a modified "M fold".  Very pretty, 

nonetheless.

This is the card semi closed since the

very small panel at the front doesn't want

to stay down.  I think when I send it

I will use a ribbon or cardstock belly

band.   I wish I'd  turned the dragonfly

a little more to the top but I was 

forgetting which way I intended to put

the square.  This is the card opened:

 

On the white panel is where you would

put a sentiment or write something.  It

fits in a standard envelope.  I was 

questioning that until I got it folded.  

Sometimes things look bigger to me

than they really are and I actually have

to put it in an envelope to make sure.

I think I have depth perception problems

or something!  Or maybe my brain is

just scrambled.  No comments.....

 

 I'm going to  church early on Sunday

to practice the songs since we didn't even

get the list until yesterday and Coleen can't

make it Saturday.  I think I'm only going

to sign "Amazing Grace" (my chains are

gone).  I've done it once before but I

can't remember all the signs exactly.

I hate that.  But I'm doing it for

the Lord and He's got this!  

 

It's a pretty day today, but I'm going to 

hang out inside and then tomorrow

I'll mow and trim etc.  I just plain don't

feel like doing it today.  I know.  I'm lazy!

I know it and I own it.  What more 

can I say?!

A little pink

It's cloudy and overcast today and I

love it.  We had a thunderstorm early

this morning but all I heard was a few

claps of thunder, then fell back to sleep.

I don't think we are supposed to get

any more rain today- a 30% chance, I

think.  That pretty much means no

rain.  But I hope it stays overcast

all day!!

Don't look too long.  The pink will blind

you.  I don't know, it just seemed like

a good idea at the time.  I think it's kind

of purty even though pink is not really

my colour.  I like black better.  You wouldn't

know it.  I have a hoodie the exact colour

as this card!

 

I'm going a little later to visit my insurance

lady.  She likes to "see her clients once

a year and make sure their insurance needs

are met".  I said, well, she seems to have

missed me the last three years.  I've never

even met her.  My sister in law says she

will try to sell me life insurance.  Sell

away.  I'm not buying.  Now if you can

give me a break on my car/house insurance

I'm all ears.  It's something to do, LOL

Pillow boxes

I got a new tool yesterday called a

pillow box punch board.

You cut your paper to 6 x up to 11" and

place it at the starting point.  Score around 

the curve and then down.  Move it to that

score line and repeat.  I found that I need

to score the curve several times to break

down the paper fibres in order to get  it

to fold in better.  But it's really easy to do

and quite addictive.

 

Does anyone have a party coming up that

they need favours for?!

 

No concert tonight.  Sadly the it was

postponed.  No reason was stated and no

future date.  Dianne and I were really 

looking forward to it!  :( 

 

I think it's going to be a halfway decent

day today.  I'm not doing anything outside

though.  My shoulder is still hurting

pretty badly and I don't want to push it.

I put heat on it several times yesterday

which seemed to help some.  At least I

was able to get some sleep.  I have a

little running around to do this morning 

and then I'm going to meet my dad for

coffee around noon.  I'm planning on 

doing nothing the rest of the day but

resting it.  Maybe I'll call my brother in

law and sister in law and see if they

would like to get beat in cards tonight....

Hello, Friend

I found the cutest Tim Holtz 

stamps with framelits (the exact

shape to cut out the stamp) and

an embossing folder that matches

the set.  It is so CUTE!  Since I

always have a 40% off coupon with

me via my phone, I decided to get

it.  Here's the card I made with

one of the stamps.

Isn't he just adorable?  I love the

wiggly eyes.

It's chilly out today!   I have to

keep reminding myself it's only May.

I finished weeding the front of

the house and am paying for it

now.  I planted a few vinca where some

of the weeds were.  I figure if the 

weeds can grow through those rocks,

so can vinca.  That stuff is hardy!  My 

sister in law gave me about 10

plants she dug out of her garden because

they grow so quickly and the place 

where I planted them is nearly filled

since last year!  I love it!  Pretty soon

there will be no weeds at all.  I hope.
