Mr. and Mrs. Hedgehog

I have three more of these little critter
valentines.  This pair of hedgehogs
are just adorable!

As a general rule I don't make Valentine
cards, but I couldn't resist all the cute
animals.  I've made them before, but
never as a Valentine card.

It is supposed to  get warmer today
but I'll believe it when I see  it-or rather
feel it.  With the warmer weather comes
the possibility for snow.  I also heard
we might have  a mix on Monday which
is not good since I have to be at
hospital at 745 am.  So I'm keeping
my fingers crossed that that doesn't
happen.  I know winter isn't over
yet and one of these days we're going
to get slammed.  I can hardly wait.
NOT.

Happy Sunday!

Masculine birthday card

I'm not super good at doing
masculine cards, but, hey-
they have birthdays, too, right?!

This is two dies from the Tim Holtz
set of scribbles and splat.  I just love
the splat!  I'm also probably going to
get the swirly scribbles set, maybe next
month.   I've seen so many cool cards
done with them.  This is the inside:

This way I used both the positive
and negative pieces .  I don't always
decorate the inside, mainly because
most of my cards are note cards,  but
I think I'm going to start trying to snazz
them up a little.
I'm planning on hibernating on the
couch today until I have to leave
for church for practice.  I'm doing
announcements this week as well.
I'm still not very good, but I guess
that's how you get better.  I have a
tendency not to try because I'm
afraid I'll mess up but where does
that get anyone, right?  Besides,
I'm doing it for God and He knows
I mess up and loves me anyway.
I wish everyone was like that.
People get their feelings hurt
too easily.  We need to just accept
and love one another the way they
are.  I'm climbing off my soapbox now.

Happy Saturday!

New friend at coffee chat

I have to say that I didn't behave
well at coffee chat.  Mostly I talked.
I'm so ashamed of myself.  😜
On the up side I met a lady named
Jane who, it turns out, lives literally
around the corner from me!  She
is hard of hearing but talks mostly.
I need to get with her, and both of
us sign.  I  gave her a ride home
since her car isn't working at the moment.

On to the card:

Unfortunately from time to time I have
to make a sympathy card.  This is for
a friend who lost her father right before
the new year.  I say "lost" but really, they
didn't lose him, they know right where he
is and that they will see  him again some
day.  It is still painful for a Christian to
have a loved one removed from this world-
It has always fascinated me that Jesus
wept when Lazurus died even though
He knew He'd be resurrecting him.  But
we have the assurance that our loved one
is in the arms of the Father and waiting
to be reunited with us again someday.

The pattern is an old one and I added
the corners from one of the newer
patterns.  I really like how it turned out.
I'm going to have to try that again
on other cards!

Happy Friday!

Easel card

This card came out exactly how I
saw it in my head which is saying
quite a bit!

I'm pretty excited with how it
looks!  The beads at the bottom
are another gift from Karen.  I tried
to make them into a straight line
but that's just how they lay and
nothing can change it.  That's
the only thing that looks a little
goofy to me.  John would say, "If you
didn't point it out no one would have
noticed."  So pretend I didn't point
it out.  I can't make things straight
anyway, so why try when the beads
don't want to be straight?!
I had a nice lunch with Pam yesterday
and it was WARM in the restaurant.
I think in my car going over it's the
warmest I've been in a week.
Tonight is coffee chat here in
Angola and I'm looking forward to
that. Sam's granddaughter, Grace, will
be there and I enjoy signing with her.
She just turned 13 and is the greatest kid.
Pam might come early to have
dinner.  We eat out way too often, LOL.
Happy Thursday!

Two patterns, one card

For this card I used two different
patterns then combined them
onto one card and I think it looks
quite harmonious.

It is so cold outside that I heard Niagra
falls is freezing.  Do you know how many
times that has happened??  We saw the
falls on the Canadian side in about 2006, I
believe.  Maybe 2005.  Magnificent!  I certainly
don't want to see them right now, though.

It's so cold...How cold is it?  It's so cold
my feelings hurt!  I borrowed that from
the weather channel.  They had # how
cold is it.  (that's hashtag for the milennials
and the pound sign for us old folks).  Some
of the things people were coming up with
were pretty darned funny! One was, "it's
so cold the politicians have their hands
in their own pockets!"  LOL!

I am going to lunch with Pam today-
we missed our usual Sunday lunch.
I'm hoping the car will be warmed
up by the time I get to Auburn- half
an hour away.  This car takes forever.
AND the wiper fluid is frozen.
I want my car back! 😢

Happy Wednesday!

Happy birthday elephant

I bought this elephant stamp as
a set of animal stamps several
months ago.  They were ridiculously
cheap on clearance.  I had not one
idea on what to do with them.  Karen
suggested stamping them on patterned
paper which I never do because I never
think of it.  That's why we card makers
stick together1  Thanks, Karen!  Here's
the card I ended up with.  Shall I save
it for your birthday or send it now
and make another for later?!

I think it came out pretty cute.  There is
also a giraffe, panda, parrot, toucan and frog.
I just had a great idea for the frog!  I need
to go back to Hobby Lobby and get another
paper pack of patterned paper!  I haven't
even poked my nose out since Sunday
when I went to church. Except to take
the dog out, that is. It was 64 in the
house this morning.  To put that in
perspective, I usually keep it at 72.  I have
been in freeze mode for days and I see no
end to it.  I hope someone checks on me
sometime soon in case I freeze to death.
At least I will be preserved and won't smell.

Anyway....I have to sign this weekend and
I'm pretty shaky on all the songs so I
guess I need to get some practice in
this week.   Maybe I will venture out
today and get a few errands run.  Maybe not.

Happy Tuesday!

New card fold

I have more Valentine cards
to show, but this is a new fold
I found on a blog and it is really
cool.  It is also the first and last I
will ever make.

The embellishment is a Christmas gift
from my friend, Karen.  Isn't it pretty?!

Here is the inside:

This is the reason I will never make
another (probably).  In order to get this
fold you have to cut corner to corner on
a 10.5 inch sheet of card stock.  Except it's
too long to put in the paper cutter.  It is
also too long to use with a ruler, or
another sheet of card stock and I tried both.
I finally cut two 2" strips of paper and
taped them together.  Not too sturdy
but got the job done.  After all that
I didn't care if I ever made another
one or not.  Incidentally, that made
two cards, but I pitched the second piece.
I get frustrated easily.  Obviously.

I did run across another interesting
card which I will probably make some
time today.

I got three Happy New Year messages
last  night and believe it or not, I was
sound asleep well before midnight.
That tells you how old I am.  Actually, I
didn't get  much sleep the night before and
simply could not keep my eyes open!

To everyone:  HAPPY NEW YEAR!
(officially)

great design, not so great colour!

This card didn't come out like I hoped. I don't like the colour of the card stock. But it's still a great design. ...
