Peace on earth journal

Isn't this just the prettiest embroidery
thread?  It's hard to work with.  It's not
soft and silky like the normal kind, so
you have to go slowly and let it untwist
frequently.  The end result is worth it,
though, I think.

Maybe I'll re-do the Christmas tree in
this thread.  I'm planning on making a
card with this design, but I had to make
the pattern smaller, so I haven't stitched it
yet.  I love how it turned out.  The prisim
paper underneath really adds to it, too.

It's is unbelievably muggy out today, but
I'm not complaining.  I always have to remind
God that I'm just remarking on the weather
not complaining.  I asked Him today if
He could just keep it warm all year round.
I could almost hear Him laughing......

Let it snow!

Just kidding, of course.  Bri and I
had a great time together and while
she was here we made some snow
man jars.

I have two things in mind for these.  First, is
to put candy in them such as hershey kisses and
starlight mints.  If you mix them together it's
pretty and cheaper, lol.  Second, for the kids
I'm going to take a toilet paper roll and
put some pretty paper around it, then
place it inside the jar.  I'll put a little money inside
then fill it and the jar with M&M's or something
else small for a Christmas gift.  It was so
much fun making them with her.  I let
her do all the spray painting so if there
was little spots of drips or whatever I could
blame her!  Just kidding, Bri!

I had another card I was working on but had
a bit of a headache yesterday that wore me
down so I  went to bed before I could finish it.
I should have it tomorrow, though.  I hope
everyone had a good labor day yesterday!

Meeting Donald Trump!

Imagine my surprise when, while at
my local Walmart I ran into Donald Trump!!

He even had cute little shorts on!
Who knew??  I'm sure you have guessed
that it was Bri being silly!

More silly pictures!  As you can see, I
discovered snap chat last night.  Unfortunately
my phone won't do video on the app, but
Bri sent me a couple cute ones of her.  It will
change your voice, too.  It's adorable!

And finally a serious card.  This is an
easel card that folds flat for mailing.
I have a couple more stitched cards done
but not made into cards yet, so I may do
that this evening after Bri goes home.
We have had so much fun!  I'm hoping to
get together with her and Travis next
weekend and have an overnight.  That will
be a blast!!

I hope everyone is having a nice long
weekend!

Fancy fold

I saw this fold the other day and I don't
think I've ever made one like
it.  Maybe close.  Maybe I have
 made one like it.
As I get older the memory gets
worse.  What am I saying?  My
memory has always been terrible.
I have notes everywhere.  Notepads
everywhere.  I try to keep the notes in
some semblance of order, but I
can't find them most of the
time.  Which really defeats the
purpose if you think about it.

I think I have made one similar to this, but
the flap was on the left like a traditional
card.  This one has a card within a card like
that, but opens on the right, then tucks in the
front flap.  I thought it was interesting.
It makes for a bit of a bulky card, but I don't
think it will cost any extra to send.

Bri is coming over today after clothes shopping
with her dad for a last overnight hurrah.  Michigan actually
sends their kids to school after labor day.  What
a novel idea!  I remember when we moved there
my parents didn't do their research and the
school had already started.  In August!  I
was horrified.  And school had already
started for the day so I walked in to
a classroom full of students.  Parents,
if you are going to yank your 16 year old
from everything she has known into a
blink-your-eyes-and-miss-it town, make
sure you do your research and don't make
her stand out any more than she already does.
Interlopers are  not accepted in that town.
I hated the school, hated the kids and am
still to this day not too happy with my parents
for doing that to me.

OK, now with that out
of my system for the moment, back to the
reason I started this....I have a project
in mind to do with her that I hope will
turn out and if so will post it tomorrow.
We have so much fun together and she
is (poor kid) so much like me it's scary!
We're going to go out for Chinese food, too.
We did that last time she was here and really
enjoyed it.  Except that she has gone vegetarian
for a year.  She quit drinking pop for a whole
year, too.  In those ways she is nothing like
me.  I don't understand people who only eat
veggies (I hate them) and worse, that
drink no pop.  Diet coke is a staple for
me.  If I didn't drink it I would shrivel
up and blow away from dehydration
because another thing I hate is water.
I have a lot of hates in my life.  I really
need to lighten up!

Off to get ready for church-which I don't
hate!  Have a great rest of the long weekend!

Smoothie anyone?

When I was in North Carolina I
got a membership to Sam's club and
while there I got a magic bullet.  Robin has one
and it made such great smoothies.
I discovered a better recipe than the
fruit ones though.  I mean, fruit is good
but chocolate is better!  Am I right?!
Here is the recipe I found:

1 tbs dark chocolate chips
1 tbs Hersheys unsweetened cocoa
splash of vanilla
2/3 c. silk almond milk
1 frozen banana

It is soooooo good.  The recipe calls
for 1/2 c. almond milk but I found that
it wasn't enough liquid.  I suppose it
depends on your appliance.
I want one right now!  It's
so cold and delicious-and gives
me an ice cream headache
because I drink it so fast!

Today I have two journals that
I made with the stitching card patterns.
I love how they turned out and since my
"friend" Karen keeps reminding everyone
on facebook how close Christmas is
there's no reason not to start a few
things.  Thanks, a lot, Karen, lol.
I bet you will recognize the embellishments
on one of the journals.  Thanks for sending
them.  If you ever see anymore, grab them
for me, they are awesome!

I think they turned out so well.  I just love
making these journals.  I hope the people
who get them actually like writing a few
things down!  I used to keep a journal
and now and then even write a few entries
these days, but not like when I was young.
But these can be used for whatever-lists,
etc.  I stopped at the dollar store to get
some for 1.00 each which is a good price
and they were out.  So I went to Meijer and
they had them on sale for 50 cents each
for school!  I grabbed about 8 of them.  You
sure can't beat that price!  The pattern set
also includes a pattern for Mary, baby Jesus
and a shepherd.  I loved it until I got a close
up look at it.  The faces look goofy.  So I
doubt anyone will get one of those.

Harry Potter weekend started last night.
I've seen them all a million times, but there's
nothing on TV on the weekends anyway
so why not watch them again.  My daughter
in law, Pam, says it seems to her that every
time she comes over to visit Harry Potter is on!
It's the only thing I watch, Pam!  Honestly!!
Besides soap operas, that is.  What can I say?
I'm hooked.

New laundry helper

To be fair, B'Elanna did not jump in the
basket, I put her there because I thought
she would look cute.  She decided it might
be a comfy place to lay so she stayed there!
I did finally get the bed made.  That's the only
reason there isn't laundry in the basket.  I
don't mind washing it.  I don't mind drying it.
I don't even mind putting it in the
basket.  I seem to have an aversion to
folding and putting it away.  I am not the
only one I know with this aversion.  Normally
it doesn't even make it out of the dryer.  I
just use it from there and if something is
wrinkled I'll just throw a damp towel in
and dry it again--and then it usually sits
until it is wrinkled once again.  Once in a
while I'll take out the clothes that need to
be hung up.  Strange is part of the
package with me.

Isn't this so pretty??  I had the top part of
the card done a while back and couldn't
think of how to finish it.  I was cleaning my
desk yesterday-something I should probably
do more often-and came across it and it looked
perfect with the circle of stitching!  It's surprising
what  you can find if you clean off your desk!

It's downright chilly out this morning.  I got
the lawn done yesterday and so did both
of my neighbors.  I like it when they do theirs
because then I don't have to pay attention
to the property line, all I have to do is
mow where they didn't!  It was a nice
cool and breezy afternoon to mow.  The
news said we will get some more warm weather
this weekend.   I hope  they are right.  I am
not ready for this cold stuff yet.  And definitely
not ready for the white stuff!!!

Top executive executed??

Wow.  Our country  might be going to
hell in a hand basket, but at least we
don't get executed for falling asleep in
a meeting!  I'm so glad I don't live
in North Korea!!!

I don't really like either one of
these cards, but other people have
different tastes than me, so maybe
someone will.  Sometimes what I see
in my head doesn't always translate to
my hands.  (and I am learning sign
language??!)

This one is OK, I guess.  It needs a sentiment
but I just haven't figured out what to use
or how to put it on that it won't be boring.
It already is boring!  I was trying to
make something else but it didn't turn out
so I thought this would and it's BORING!!

This one should have had the insert a little bigger,
I think.  I didn't really have a pattern to make
it and I'm no good at free hand.  The "hello"
is made the same way as the ones a few
days ago, cutting several die cuts and layering
them together then adding crystal effects on top.
I like that technique.  Maybe I should have
eliminated the butterfly altogether?

Oh, well.  I'm working on some more geometric
shapes for cards and the project I was
talking about yesterday.  Hopefully they
turn out better than these did!  I'm too picky,
I guess.

Lawn mowing  today as soon as the grass
dries.  The rain really made it spring up
overnight!  I enjoy mowing believe it or not
and besides, it means that the grass is still
growing which means it's still warm!
I dread the cold weather.  To Nancy and
any others that live in the path of Hermine,
stay safe!!

great design, not so great colour!

This card didn't come out like I hoped. I don't like the colour of the card stock. But it's still a great design. ...
