At
1:15 AM February 12, my mother, Barbara
Sanders,
entered into Heaven's gates to meet
her
Savior face to face. It's been a long road
for
her. A hard road many times. But the
reward
is well worth the journey.
My
sister, Robin, drove through a rain, then
snow
storm all night Sunday night, from
North
Carolina. My brother traveled from
Detroit
in that same storm, this time just
snow.
My son, Nathan, and his wife, Crystal,
as
well, from Grand Rapids. God got them
all here safely. Monday night into Tuesday
we
had a terrible ice storm. My brother and
son
are safely home and my sister will probably
leave
this weekend.
The Lord allowed her to see one last birthday.
On February 1, she turned 82 years of age.
We will miss her, but as Christians we know that
our loved ones are not "lost". We know exactly
where they are and what's more, we know -we
are ASSURED - that we will be reunited with
them once again.
1 Thessalonians 4:13-18
13 Brothers
and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who
sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind,
who have no hope. 14 For we believe that Jesus died and rose
again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who
have fallen asleep in him. 15 According to the Lord’s word, we
tell you that we who are still alive, who are left until the coming
of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep.
16 For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud
command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of
God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 After that, we
who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them
in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the
Lord forever. 18 Therefore encourage one another with these
words.
So you see, it is never a farewell for Christians.
It is, "I'll see you again someday."
Until then, Mom.
Are you ready? Have you accepted Christ
as your Savior?
